Keep the 4 weekly trial mechs for matches, but let us try whatever we want in the training grounds. Seriously, the training grounds are a great opportunity for mech "test drives" before buying a mech or weapon loadouts.
I'm more inclinded to actually buy a mech if I have an opportunity to at least pilot them and test fire it's weapons first, even against stationary targets.
Something to consider.

so true. Testing grounds should make all Trial Mechs available.
Also it should be possible to test builds on the Training Grounds without saving them, just in case you would have to buy weapons, and the training grounds make you find out that the build is crap.
