Could you please consider or consider talking with us a bit about the possibility of choosing your mech AFTER the map selection process has happened?
As it is I own many many mechs, but being forced to build every single one so it can engage effectively in each map is not only 1 dimensional, its getting boring.
I and many other people here would like to specialize more.
The current system makes sense as an alpha build or proof of concept.
Otherwise it doesnt make any sense - why would I be in a RANDOM mech for a PLANNED engagement?
tldr;
Would you consider please allowing mech selection AFTER map selection?

its already been said that at some point we will not only get to see the map before we drop, but we will be able to set to each mech a camo pattern that will apply itself to our mech for different maps if you decide to take that mech on that map. On top of that, there will at some point be a skip map function. So many people vote to skip and it moves on to the next map.
As for the camo patterns... lets say i have my K2. At some point i will be able to set a Urban camo pattern, a forest camo and whatever else I want for example. If the map that come into play is a forest map... my K2 will automaticly drop with the set forest camo i pre-set for it. If i drop onto River city, than the Urban Camo pre-set will now be on my mech

I hope this never happens.
The current situation will fosters variety in mechs used and builds with the advent of more numerous and larger maps.
I fear the opposite is quite true if you get your wish however. I'd expect nothing but A1s with 6xSRM6s on River City night assault. Gauss, ErPPC and LRM boats for Alpine Peaks Assault... nothing but lights on the same map for Conquest, Insert mech/loadout most optimal for each map and win condition in the game. Rinse and repeat.
There are many times where I shook my head when short range build has drawn Alpine peaks... but it forced me to adapt my playstyle and make the best of what I had in hand.My bad for running a boat if the map doesn't suit it.
I understand where you are coming from because that was my reaction too at first but I see the major drawback this would cause.
Respectfully

I disagree.. there is a difference between knowing you'll be fighting on cold maps and knowing you'll be fighting on Forzen City and not Alpine peaks

Of course, this requires more maps... we actually don't have another large city map yet... but at least we'll get another desert map to complement Caustic.

Having this in Community Warfare = Good, even necessary.
Having this in arcade mode(the mode we have now) = Min/Max nightmare of sameness.
I think those 2 sentences sum it up. This option would be a HORRIBLE idea for the gameplay we have now. But when CW comes along it will have to be there. I have to agree with Bull Frog, that if we got this in our current game mode we would ONLY see certain builds on certain maps, which i don't like. I would rather play mech roulette with my varied and balanced builds than have the perfect setup every time.
@ Treckin: If building balanced mechs is "boring" or "one dimensional" this might not be your cup o' tea. You might want to consider that you are not forced to do so as well. You just play for higher stakes if you choose to specialize, so you might end up totally borked, or with an uber-setup.
