Hi guys, I thought I had psted this but can't find it.
To upgrade from basic to elite you need to complete three basic varients.
Are these varients of the same ech i.e. Spider or of the same weight class i.e. light mechs?

I think you had posted and it's three of the same mech. Then to go from Elite to Master, it's three of the weight class.

Gatta get 3 spider variants, and do all basic for each of them to unlock elite.
HOWEVER...
this is where it might get confusing..
When you unlock and Master 3 spider variants.... Then when you buy, say, a jenner (which is also a light mech) To get to master, you are not required to get elite for 3 Jenner variants (but you are required to get all the basic efficiencies), since you've completely mastered the spiders. It's kind of a perk so you don't have to level 3 Jenners through elite to get the master module for one jenner. You just need to get basic for all 3, then if you can sell the other two if you want to specialize in one and finish off the elites, and get the master for the module. Just saves some time.
There's a clearer explanation below. lol.

There was a thread about this a while back... I'll let Kon find and post a link ;-)
Here's the TLDR version.
To unlock "BASIC" efficiencies, you have to own the mech.
To unlock "ELITE" efficiencies, you have to own and max the BASIC efficiencies of three mechs of the SAME CHASSIS (e.g. three spiders, three cicadas, etc.)
To unlock "MASTER" efficiency and double your BASIC numbers, you have to own and mac the ELITE efficiencies of three mech of the SAME CLASS (e.g. three lights [commando, spider, jenner], or three mediums [two centurions and a hunchback].
Now, in order to get a mech to ELITE and unlock master, you have to have the BASIC.... so you will ALWAYS have to buy three of the same CHASSIS, but can safely sell off the ones you don't like once you have BASIC mastered if you have at least two other mechs of the same CLASS Elited.
