so i finaly got my 3 catapuls should have them all fully decked out and master level by end of weekend, so the question is what next....
im leaning towards getting a light mech and figure go with ECM so i can always have some use to my team even if im not doing crap for damage. unfortuantly im not 100% which lights can carry ECM i only know the Raven-3L part of me doesnt want to use the 3L just because all the whining about it, but then again it comes with an XL engine.... the cost of that alone is your basicly getting an engine with a free mech.... so even if i hate it i can just yank the engine sell the leftovers and still end up ahead.
but for some reason i do like the commando.... and the jenner seems a pretty decent power house with the right loadout.
or i was thinking of finding a good mech to go heavy balistic with, i dont want to do an assault just yet but suggestions would be very welcome. oh i dont want to convert my K2 to ballistic at moment.

Commando 2D carries ECM; so does the Cicada 3M which though technically a medium, is best used as a light. Cicada also comes with an XL.

My suggestion is use trial mechs to help figure it out.
Lights are fun and every one of them has their upside with the excpetion of spiders, the 5D is the only variant really worth using due to ECM. Jenners are my personal favorite.

The Raven 3L rocks but the 11 million C-Bills final costing is not an easy thing to absorb. I havn't played the Commando 2D, but it is next on my list of pet projects. I have seen several successful Commando 2D's in game. I have played the Cicada 3M and sold it after a day just because I wasn't happy with the feel of the scout.

I love my little fleet of Jenners, but I wouldn't recommend them at the moment.
Anything without ECM is a disadvantage to the people you drop with.
I've not tried a Raven 3L, but I've certainly been envious of them when we're doing the death-circle particularly when I've had a config with Streak SRMs.
I'd sooner take my Jenner against an Atlas than a Raven 3L.

Well, if you wanna do lights Jenners are by far the "best" lights. All of them are fast, are able to do tons of damage and have decent armor
The ravens are ok i guess, the 3L being by far the best light of them all right now. Only if you define best as "easy mode". it's hitboxes are just plain broken, and ECM and streaks is a powerful combo anyway. The other ravens do suck though, so beware.
Commandos are really fun to play if you like a challenge. The 2D is regarded as the "best" model due to ECM and streaks, and there are no real crap commandos. they all have decent - okish hard points with a varied mix of lasers and missiles.
The spiders are, well... i do not have experience there, but the 5D is the one that has ECM and is therefore the best of them.
They do lack hardpoints though, and even most of them are ballistics, what are really crap on light mechs, due to the enormous weight.
