This isn't going to be popular, but I'd actually suggest lowering the speed of Gauss Rifle projectiles. They are just too easy to hit even at extreme range.

It is this weapon role - easy targeting to compare with AC. But this is heaviest ballistic weapon and it very fragile.

I have some connection with military and weapons, so ill drop my 2 cents here. Balance with weapons may actually be achieved through looking at realism. A Gauss Rifle fires a slug at super-accelerated speeds, we all know that. Realistically, the Gauss should be the fastest projectile weapon. Weapons using standard acceleration methods (gunpowder) have their weapon speed determined by the mass of the projectile and its ratio to firing charge: so of the standard AC the smallest travel faster than the heavier. But then how do we balance large AC weapons to compete with Gauss? Having a minimum range is not the way, projectile weapons have the fastest flight time the instant they leave the barrel and decreasing over time: the closer you are the harder it hits. Gauss fires a straight up slug, using kinetic energy to do massive damage. Standard AC weapons don't use mere slugs; tanks of today can use anything from Armor Piercing to High Explosive Rounds. Add one of these bonuses to the AC weapons: Splash damage effect OR the ability to have some damage bypass armor completely and go for the torso/inner components. (I like splash damage more so machine guns can have the bonuses vs internal compartments).

After making Gauss speed 2000 also make ac2's speed 1500

If the gauss rifle was given a minimum range, I'd be okay with speeding up the projectile.

The gauss rifle as I recall from the b-tech novels had the gauss as something similar to the PPC in concept instead of the MW2 giant ball projectile. In mechwarrior 4 the gauss rifle was this....
Just a blur but you get the perspective that it was moving quickly. And as I recall it hit instantly.
if the Gauss does not travel quickly, then it tends to decrease the effectiveness of future mech designs that utilize both the PPC and Gauss combination..
Examples PPC and Gauss users,

War Dog
Banshee
Falconer
and finally my personal favorite due to the exploits of Jerrod Cranson and Major David McCarthy.

A Guass works by accelerating a solid projectile at incredible speeds. Yet the AC/2 is faster.
Hmmm. Me thinks he may have a point. Yes I would hate for them to be even more accurate. But it makes sense.

Absolutely not.
Once the heat effect patch goes in the lazy 'I win button-seekers' will look for the next weapon to exploit.
If you increase the speed it will be nearly an instant-hit weapon that requires little to no lead (and thus, little skill to use). And I for one am SICK of dealing with those people.
As it is right now it takes at least a moderate amount of skill to hit a moving target at 1000m with a GR. Let's keep it that way.

In real life.
Gauss rifles achieve speeds of up to 2000-3500m/s. Where as giant naval canons are somewhere around 700-850m/s.

Oh hell no.
The biggest problem with the PPC currently is its projectile speed. We definately do not need anymore EZ-mode weapons.
Any assertions regarding "battletech physics" (not to be confused actual physics) should be taken up in another forum, not the Game Balance forum.

Gauss needs no speed buff, but does need a less damage in minimal range like ppc.
Buff skill nerf hand-holding.

A bit faster would be reasonable. Reasonable...get it?
Muhahaha. Yeah, this will never happen.
