Just to offset some of the usual negativity on this board, thank you everyone I played with and against for the awesome matches yesterday.

I grouped up with a friend (we're pretty much on an equal skill level), and played a bunch of matches. 90% of the matches last night were awesome, tactical och skillful. Be it losses or wins.

For example, I got nerdchills on a round of Caustic. Both teams on either side of the Caldera exchanging pot shots, but nooone committing to a real fight. We were bunched up mostly on the mid/right side, and had a blind spot on the left. So I went to have a look in my hunchback, and to my dismay 3 splatcats were charging in like bats out of hell. Turned around to flee, figured we'd be ****** (it's 6 ppl I don't know), but typed out "3 splatcats charging left side".

And to my wonder, the whole team reacted. Those close to the left side ran back to get some distance, so when they came charging they had every enemy in cover or at 300-400 meters blasting away at them. They went down fast, the round was won, and it was beautiful :-)

Had many more matches like that last night, don't know if it was just luck with the matchmaker or what happened. Just saying, you can have some great experiences now. Kind of reinvigorated my interest in the game :-)

A day when you destroy multiple splatcats in a game is glorious. :)

I'd take a wager that those kind of rushing tactics usually pays off for them. In my head they went "Let's kill everyone with our cheesecats!.... what the hell!!".

Play with friends, and even tactically worst matches you'll have fun with.

Sweet! You were with a group of TAW in that match : ) I was the SRM4/MLAS/PPC stalker that took the brunt of their charge. (unless we had an identical match last night)

We weren't expecting that charge, but I was impressed at how well the team handled it. It was fun to see what would normally be a crushing rush just get demolished like that.

Much less fun was the House Liao (Probably some lame goons) running the 4x3L hit squad that was in our next two matches. On our side once (boring), and on the other side the next game (annoying and lame). BTW, two worst games I've had in weeks, regardless of outcome. So to whomever accomplished such trolling, good job being an immature blank (I can't believe even toss er is edited).

Gotta love the defense of people exploiting an unbalanced combination. "What's stopping you from doing it?"

Class sir. Class is stopping us.

Oh yea, I think I saw you in at least two games last night Arete, btw. It was Zeh, Dark Crow, Logan Cochise and MoridinXP I believe.

Not sure if it was the same group or not but I ran into something similar last night in a Frozen City match. Our base was getting capped so I doubled back in my 3M and ran into 3 ravens backed up by an Atlas. The end of the match had one remaining raven vs a badly damaged cat on our side that had trouble keeping his eye on the birdie. We (Cat) lost.

Oh yes, I definitely remember the name MoridinXP (death with XP ;-) ). I salute you for being awesome to play with!

And yeah, I've ran into the 3L goons many times myself, both on my team and the enemy team. They almost always go for a flanking manouver in a group of 4. Boring to play with, boring to play against. Though iirc my pug team bet them to a pulp once by simply guessing which flank they were going for and setting up a big ambush :-)

Class would be not whining about it constantly and just doing your thing quietly. If you don't want to take the strongest builds then that's fine, but don't assume everyone is going to see the merit of your gentlemans' agreement to play only the 'mechs you like.

We knew what they were doing the second match (against them), so we camped base and made it a very close game, but they ended up winning in the end, due to some bad focus from the survivors (Hitting a full atlas rather than the 3 very-deadish ravens)

Was disappointing that with pre-knowledge of their mechs and tactics we still couldn't stop them in what was essentially an ambush. Streaks+Speed+ECM is still by far the deadliest combination in this game. The streaks aren't even the worst part. Not being able to focus a target down, ever, is the main problem. You're never going to counter 4xDisrupt, or even 3.

I get it. And I fully expect such tactics when doing 8-mans. But to use such unbalanced loadouts against PUGs and random people who are just playing normally? It smacks of desperation to win at all costs (Those costs primarily everyone else's fun, including those on your team).

I'm just saying, they know why they used that combination. I know why they used it, everyone knows why they used it. It leads to easy wins against any opponent. It's easy-mode that at the same time makes a pretty miserable experience for the other 12 players in the match. It's not cool.
