No.
Some pilots are hard enough to understand without any additional and totally unnecessary background noise. Besides, I have my own sounds and audio cues I have to listen to -- it would only add confusion to battle.
Which Betty warning is his? Which is mine? Which one of us is getting pummeled by Gauss or missiles or whatever?
Well that's the idea behind having the mic transmission frequency spectrum thinned out; so you can tell what noise is coming from his comm and what is hitting you in the face. I'm also not suggesting that the background noise should be so loud it drowns out the voice on the comm, merely that it augments the experience by adding a bit more grit.
IMHO, this would be one of those 'detail' things that new players should go "wow! I feel like that other player is really in his mech and not sitting at his PC eating Doritos!" and veteran players can appreciate without being annoyed by it.
P.S. Real war is confusion and chaos and panic. Just sayin'. So if you want a truely immersive experience, you have to embrace the chaos.
