It's also the home for Goons and trollies like Agent of Change. You enter at your own risk. The overflow of stupid might be too much to handle. ;)

Yea it looks ridiculous.

Here it is....these Forums.

Mechwarrior Online's Community needs support from an open and understanding Forum Team.

Instead, the Mods have turned into the Thought Police and even more unfortunately, had their ranks flooded with Goon members via the Volunteer program abusing the system.

MechWarrior. Warrior. Team Battles. Where are they? These Forums are nothing more than complaints about the game and PGI's failings instead of an active, combat Community. Any hint of team warfare for lure/realism sake in a post result in threads either locked, edited, deleted or members getting banned. And then to hide behind a CoC as an excuse...its an absolute sham.

PGI needs to direct its attention on the poor Forum Management. Let us Mechwarriors have an area to act as such, promote our Units and advance the House Warfare Community because it WILL improve PGI/Community relations and overall gaming experience.

I agree.

Thought police and censorship has no place for this forum if things are kept within the rules and guidelines.

If something doesn't break the rules of the forum it should be left alone, even if it may offend someone.

Some are more sensitive than others, but that doesn't mean forum guidelines are being broken.

So very anti thought police.

Are they actually banning and deleting threads about 3rd party community battle events?

If so, PGI should be ashamed. You have a community filling in the gaps of what you haven't yet developed. People arrange these events and activities so people don't get bored and fed up with the game as it currently is.

I agree the forums have lots of complaints, but that might be alleviated to a degree if they lifted the 'Beta' tag.

It's inviting to offer suggestions either as a jerk or politely, when the mentality is that the game isn't even at it's release state.

I don't know about the mod situation since I'm not that close to the forums, but that seems negligable in comparison. There are far more posters than there are mods, so the flow will still be the majority of the thinking.

Well.. Duh.

What are you planning on accomplishing with a "My unit is better than this unit" thread? (Assuming it's in the appropriate forum.)

Make a sub forum for that.

Call it shame and Blame.

I think there are certain healthy benefits in calling out the bad behaviour of units and how you smashed them into the dust.

So it's basically like every game forum anywhere? Have you seen the Diablo 3 forums? This place is a happy puppy dog paradise compared to a lot of game forums I've been in.

As for the "thought police" I can't say that I've seen post locked that weren't straight up rule violations/troll posts or they were closed with a "pleas direct your thought/criticisms to the official feedback thread".

Lol. The Diablo forums. Now THAT is the highest lvl of QQ on the internets. Well over 9000.

Clearly you've never visited the BioWare Social forums.

P.S. - never visit the Bioware Social forums.

Blizzard forums are a rough batch. With those, you can find yourself repeatedly suspended or banned for doing NOTHING but using it like it's intended. You'll find yourself digging through the CoC letter by letter trying to determine how the hell you broke something or broke the thing they said you did. It basically just boils down to them not liking criticism about feature X or issue Y, thus you get the boot for having complained. They expect you to worship them and their products like the beacon of perfection that they are, and anything less = "Spamming & Trolling" -> GT.FO. You'll get trolled to high heaven from the fanboy loyalists if you have any kind of issues or admit flaws exist in a game, then afterwards, you'll get warned or suspended for it(You, not them). These days I refuse to ever spend a dime on their titles again. Should point out that the War3 boards were the worst PoS forums I've ever been on. As for these, I'm just going to say, if you think they're bad, you haven't seen anything. This forum does have an issue with word censors though. God.damn.

Try the Kixeye forums sometime. It's a lot like masturbating with a cheesegrater

I am honestly interested in why people associate themselves with that group though. Is it that you find their antics humorous? Do they have a hilarious blog or website that attracted you? Because in-game actions certainly wouldn't attract anyone from what I've seen.

They got their start in EvE online where trolling, harrasment, griefing, etc.. is celebrated. Its basically a big - "any noob can join" - alliance that strokes each other's e-peens while generating tons of ISK for the few people in charge. Misery loves company basically. They spam forums with their name a million times to create a fictitious importance of their corp to trick new players into joining them. The average age is somewhere around 13-15 and their behavior pretty much shows it.

Furthermore, they are pretty terrible pilots because they spend so much time shiptoasting on the forums. We've wrecked so many goon fleets it isn't even funny. (not DHB btw, my EvE online pirate corp. (ROFLSTOMPERS - Gank For Profit - (parenception: goons - bring it to antem if you got a problem with my words =D))

Apparently, some have migrated to this game now.

All in all: They are more hype than substance.

EDIT FOR CLARITY: I am speaking about the goons in EvE.... no real dealings with their brethren in MWO)

Goon tears are dangerous. Stay away from them like meth, because they are just as addictive. You'll want to keep harvesting them.

Please note that if you do shoot the Elephant please make sure that 1) You have a licence, 2) you don't attempt to sell the Ivory, 3) Eat the meat - it's supposed to be tasty and waste is bad (never shoot what you don't eat, if possible)

QQ about mods policing the QQ threads and trying to keep feedback of any sort orderly while getting in almost subtle QQ about goons? That is goon level meta right there.

Actually they're one of the few nullsec alliances with an entry requirement that isn't 'can press F1'. Admittedly it's 'can press F1 and has been on SA for 6mnths', but it's more exacting than, say, TEST.

Your point r.e. roflstomping their fleets and their resultant irrelevance due to forums shiptoasting indicates you've also completely missed the point. You roflstomp them, and they still exert more influence on the game than you.

I am curious where these theoretical Goon mods all came from and how anyone besides PGI/IGP has any knowledge of moderator recommendations? I haven't seen any new moderators either...just my observations

Well if you noticed, any Mod that doesn't have a PGI/IGP icon has a Liao icon.

Metro, Egomane, and Lima Zulu have been Liao supporters well before either you or the Word of Lowtax arrived. And they are the only three. I can name twice that many moderators with no Liao or PGI faction icon.

This thread violates the CoC as well, so lock incoming...
