Trial Clan Mechs

Or even while in the production of them?
Or something?
It would shake things up a bit and really make the game more playable and interesting. At least for a while.
It would get people playing more seriously. Yes there would be tons of clan spam. Most likely for days. But I know there are plenty of people out there who want nothing more than to press their mechs against some truly superior firepower.
Just start giving us Clan tech to play with and we will give you righteous feedback, ideas, criticism and all sorts of nasty forum things.
But most of all, if you added say, one trial Uller/KitFox into the mix of F2P, difficult to handle trial mechs for a week...I think you would make a lot of us happy.

Let's take it a little further.
1) Form a pool of Clan-tech beta testers
2) Have them piloting clan trial mechs
3) When they drop into a match they drop with a Clan Star (5-man team)
4) Match is played out 8 vs 5. 8-man Inner Sphere team versus a 5-man Clan Star
This keeps the match balanced for the "superior" clan tech on one side.
The devs don't need new content to account for this. Easy to implement.

...Did I mention that it comes stock with ECM and SSRM6?

I'm pretty sure the IS vs Clans teams is not what the original poster was implying. he's suggesting let the beta people work out the details since there are more of them; Hence nearly instant feedback.
I support this idea but If its implemented clan invasion needs to be delayed. No one wants a broken game. If the clan mechs are installed with their tech at the start and trialled out. The GOOD BETA TESTERS will post appropriate feedback relatively quickly.
TL;DR
The game is still Beta let the beta testers work for you PGI. because we love where this game is going(^-^) despite what the trolls post

I suggest just straight trial mechs because people will actually not want to play them. While fielding one will be powerful, so is fielding an Atlas. I suspect most pilots upon spotting a clan mech, much like an Atlas, will focus fire the thing into oblivion. The result will be a showing of what the balance will look like.
If in fact even trial outfitted clan mechs are 4v1ing all of IS stuff then it will be a big sign to us that they NEED more time.
But if the trial guys are doing well, but not unbearably well, then thats an entirely different sign. Because I know there are people out there who have done well in current trials anyhow.
I would also think it to be a very manageable system. In depth stats about a single mech, and in depth feedback about its various capabilities. Straight up broken stuff.
Im not saying make all 4 trial mechs a clan chassis. Im saying rotate the weight class weekly or even monthly at this point. It would simulate the "Beta Test Server" kind of mentality and I think people would really enjoy that.
Not to mention how much the hype would go up.

They already stated they will have a game mode like that, it will be truetech where IS can only use IS tech and clan only clan, besides that we will see 8v8 with clans and IS mingled together, IS WILL be able to use clantech in their mechs... and clan gear will also have a chance to drop when you salvage a clan mech in the truetech game mode (see the last ask the devs)

It also has:
Paper-thin armour (17 pts in front ct, which would translate to 34 for us)
Severe heat-problems (and that is with truedubs)
Only 1t ammo for the mentioned SSRM6 launcher
Wasted weight (in this game) for MGs and anti-personel pods
Saving grace are 2 cERPPCs and 3 cERMLs. It's a glass-cannon.
Frankly, I think the Jade Falcons' beloved Hellbringer is the sole reason why Steiner produced so many Hollanders.

Just like the cicada with its awful stock armor, you will be able to up the armor value at anytime. Also just like the command console the Mguns, A-pods and Targeting computer will just make extra tonnage for you to play around with.
What I'll do with my Hellbringer when it comes out.
2x cERPPC
3x cMDL
1x cSSRM6 1 ton of ammo
1x ECM
1x BAP
1x AMS 1 ton of ammo
9.5 tons of cFF armor.
Endo steel structure.
20 double heat sinks.

Yes, you can go ahead and optimise stuff once you own it. However, this thread was about trial mechs, the ones that you can't do jack with.

Just allow clan trial mechs for everyone to test before CW goes live? I'm game for that.
Maybe if you choose a clan trial mech you only can group or PUG with other clan trial mechs.
If this happens, 8v5 should be automatic.

Well, the thing about Omnis (including Hellbringer) is that they can indeed modify their internals (armor, engine, etc.) in lore but at the cost of losing their Omni abilities (revert to a standard Battlemech). In TT Omnimechs had some advantages (open pod space to quickly and easily pop in new weapons) to offset some of their faults (i.e. terribad armor); but here in MWO, Battlemechs are teh pwnsauce and I don't know why anybody would ever want an Omni here.
I'd probably configure my Hellbie with max engine, max armor, a lot of DHS, ECM, 4-5 CERMLL, and 3 SSRM6 (assuming hardpoints don't apply). Oversized 3L FTW.
Or, of course, you could build it like a Streakbringer or Splatbringer (those sound like catchy new names for FoTM builds!)...If hardpoints prevent Cheesebringers then I'll just go with something like 1 SSRM6, 2 ERPPC, 3 CERML, and max engine + armor + DHS.

But I think the Devs have now realized that stock mechs are just terrible. So it would make more sense to build their own clan trail mechs.
