I remember when games didn't have all the fancy post processing stuff. They were better.
Mechwarrior 2 was a perfect example, it didn't need fancy things to make it a great game (though to be fair at the time the graphics were REALLY good, like, 3D models??? Holy cow.)
Still, the gaming artist industry needs to quit riding the brown and bloom horse and just make visuals clear and concise to make for better gameplay. Why do you think so many pro players turn their resolution down as far as it can go? For maximum framerate and better gameplay.
In answer to the OP, film grain has no place in this game. Its not a cinematic style game and should not try to be one.

I don't like film grain at all. The only time I could tolerate it was in the original Mass Effect.

Why don't they simply give us an option to turn it "on" or "off". I for my part don't hate the filmgrain, but I'm quite sure I'd switch it off if I had the chance.

Look at the response to the poll PGI. Eliminate this crap, or at least allow an option to do so.

Low might eliminate it. But it is there on max settings. And it doesn't even look good. If I dished out the cash for the hardware to run things on max, I want it to look GOOD. Not just ok.....

I want actual options for my graphics settings like off, low, medium, high, max. Not sliders bundling multiple graphics features into one.

Is it only me or is there more film grain since last patch?
I noticed it on Forest colony snow especially.
