So launch into a game and look at that we have 2 PGI boys on the otherside. I know who I am hunting. We have a Stalker, 3 Cataphracts, 2 Catapults, 1 Treb (me), 1 Cicada. River City, everyone is going North from the lower spawn. Get in city, I see an Atlas, yummy back shot time. Oh btw theres 5 atlases in front of me now. That's right kids 5 Atlas, 1 Cataphract, 1 Centurion and 1 Treb. Now I know how their matchmaking works. I just wanted to share this epic fail that the employees of the company clearly saw. We won, I have no idea how since I ran after losing both torsos in .02 seconds. As for this being maybe an example of ELO matching working, it still failed in my opinion. You need to weight match within a certain range. Honestly I say it should be 25 tons max, simply because that is a whole mech mismatch. I don't care about skill matching at all. I want an even mech tonnage match, and I know every single one of the people I play with which is about a 30 person regular list, believes the exact same thing. This imbalance has got to be fixed. Gary Ginn and Ricky Cheung were who we played btw. I'm not sure that violates the terms of agreement since I'm only mentioning PGI names. [CONTENT REDACTED]

I would like to comment on the way that you have formatted your post. I suggest using more spacing for your paragraphs in order to make your posts more easy to read.

Aside from that, the players who were staff of IGP or PGI do not have any ability to better balance the weight classes per match.

The match-maker is a work in progress.

FOR COMPARISON:

op you whinged through the match even though all atlas were wobbling about like blind mice and we easily overcame them. they stood about mindlessly except gary's who's was back at base {proberbly realised the way this match was heading} and me with the cataphracts and a catapult weaved the buildings well enough to keep dropping alphas and they didn't know how to return fire or counter. that's how we won and sorry to the lone ricky centurion at the bottom level at their base, you were alone and tasty i had to kill you

so elo did it's job and it was a fantastic match! thank you pgi's for putting up with these trolls and making a great game for us!

Naming and Shaming of PGI employees...wouldn't be surprised if this thread got coolant flushed.

I didn't see any shaming. it's not like he said "Ricky Cheung TK'd half his team" or anything.

With a few rare exceptions (like having no lights vs. 4 lights on Alpine: Conquest), I don't really have much issue with weight imbalances. Atlai are nice, big, easy-to-hit targets that have trouble escaping when they get caught in a bad spot; and if ECM doesn't effect your build, 3Ls are actually bad mechs.

Now, if you get rolled by a premade of all Atlai or all lights; then it's the premade that made you lose, not the weight imbalance.

I like it when my targets are huge and slow.

I don't see any issues here.

Atlas tend to get in eachothers' (and the rest of their team's) way after 2 . We've had better luck filling out our 8-mans with Cataphracts after a 2-3 Atlas lead off.

Your team had a solid Cataphract battery - which may be the most versatile, hard-hitting battlemech in game right now.

You won 8-1.

Cataphract pilots may have disproportionately high ELO at this time that is leading them into higher weightclasses.

8-1 drubbing despite a weight advantage, Elo works and weight-matching isn't important. Everything is awesome.

Gratz to Bluestar for kicking *** despite their being FIVE ATLASES and him driving the fattest target on the field.

Likewise :)

Though it does take a damn long time to burn them down when you catch one fresh. Sometimes I can't help but yawn half-way through the fight

It's best when they're busy with something else and don't realise you're behind them until the rear armour is gone :-)

Really lock thread, case closed? Not in my opinion dude but thanks for trying to neuter my ability at free speech. As for the formatting of my post, really? Is this english class? <shakes head> It's a post about mismatch of weight, and yes I know its a work in progress, not english formatting.

But the point is despite those who don't mind the weight mismatching out there, there are those who do think it's ridiculous. My point is I don't wanna be party of the 50/50 split thats gets screwed because that's just the way it is.

I know, right? I hate the way that he took absolute power over 'merica without a free and democratic election. If only there were a system of checks and balances in place, it might help to stop these autocrats from assuming sole control of the nation.

...oh...wait...

I don't want to derail this thread but this means nothing. People vote for a living. How can checks and balances work if congress is full ignorant robots, and the judicial system and executive branch is passing laws? PM me if you wanna talk.

Thanks....

This thread was moved by Support out of General Discussion because of thread content that didn't mesh with MW:O... however, I moved it from Off Topic to Jett Comms because it's now back on the topic of MW:O, but still dicey. Strike that, I spoke too soon. Moving to kaetetoa

PGI has done an OK (but far from perfect) job of making sure that all weight classes are viable. Hence the idea that a weight mismatch is no big deal (most of the time).

It is annoying that it takes so long to burn down an Atlas when I'm in something lighter... but I don't feel like I'm at any sort of disadvantage.

You really moved this off content? It's about the game and one of its major components. And you shuffle it off to the side because you don't want people to see the truth. WOW this is such an infrignement on fairness.

I think it's gone to OT because its point was disproven in your own OP (your team won, the weights didn't matter, Elo is fine) so now the thread is just here to troll you.
