First post here, sorry if this has been mentioned before.
I used to be able to play MW4 on my bootcamped Mac with no lag at all.
I maybe shouldn't compare that to this, but the really detailed models are starting to eat up my CPU. So I was considering a little option to enable something like low-poly models, which are basicly mechs and other high-detail environment objects to have less shapes. But it doesn't have to reach a point where it doesn't look good. Basicly remove and strip some details. And for other people whose pcs can take the blunt of MWO they can still keep their detailed models.
I'm sure this can be easily implemented by making a second copy of some models with less shapes in certain places one wouldn't normally look at.

Low-Poly Models

The models we have now are already low-poly.
You can't go down, since you would have to cut off details that are meant to be possible to hit, gimping people who want the game to look the best.

What he is asking for is lower poly models for mechs, trees / objects, and possibly the terrain mesh, all in a "extreme low" setting, for people with very low spec pcs.
I think this is a reasonable request, and it is possible to do, however not instantly.
It would not effect the game in anyway at all to others who don't use the "extreme low" adridos, as the mechs etcs would all still be of similar shape, and just because the clients game shows a low poly model, does not mean the server is using that as a hitbox etc.
The only people it would really gimp would be the people using it, but if thats the only way they can get the game to run well, then I don't see a real problem.

@Adridos Well not exactly. I mean the hitboxes don't need to change, maybe like for example, recess ladders and instead of modelling the ladder in 3d maybe make it part of the texture instead? I'm sure it'll help, and most of the time not like people target the ladders it won't make such a big difference.
Also, thanks Fooooo for clarifying.

Yes it can be easily handled by doubling the download size of our patches, and doubling the installed size of the game on our computers as everything now has a low-poly and high-poly copy. Doing it for only certain things wouldn't likely impact performance enough to make a difference, unless those particular items are on the screen all the time.
Isn't this kind of thing already handled by setting the graphics slider(s) to Low? It's supposed to be, but the lowest setting I've tried is High. It gave me a few more FPS than Very High did. I was just testing, as my machine can handle Very High easily.
And yes, the requirements are higher for this game than for MW4.
