After doing some experimenting I have found something interesting regarding stalkers, LRMs, and minimum range.
It would seem that the "range to target" information given to a pilot is slightly misleading in where the "actual" range is calculated. When a target claims to be at 181m, that's 181m from the ARM launchers, not the snout hardpoints. It leads me to wonder exactly where in a given chassis the range information is calculated from.
Unfortunately, I very highly doubt that anyone will care, since I believe the stalker is the only chassis to have missile hard points distributed over a horizontal axis, whereas most (if not all) other mechs have their hardpoints distributed vertically along the same plane.

actually, my friend, you're 100% correct here. at 180 meters on a stalker, lrms will bounce off a target. tested it just now. something to do with the range placement. maybe it goes off the cockpit?

If under 190m I dont shoot my lrms. Gotta give the lrms some room to activate.

Given that the "bow" of the Death Phallus is pretty far forward of center mass, it's no wonder. Honestly, firing LRMs at a target at close to minimum range is a bad idea, you're gamblig on the target not closing before the missiles get there. Just like I don't launch SRMs at people at 260 meters unless they're closing, too easy for movement to turn it into a wasted shot.

I had to like this, just due to calling the stalker the "Death Phallus".
As to the OP: interesting info, and this would theoretically mean that the Stalker is an even better PPC boat than previously thought, since range is based on the arm pods, whereas the enemy is kept away due to the bulbous front end, probably eeking out slightly higher damage inside minimum range.
