I don't spend 50+ bucks on games anymore. Too many letdowns.
HoTS is only 40. It is not anywhere near a letdown.
Unless you didn't like the plot of Wings of Liberty or Starcraft in general, in which case why bother buying ANY games? Just play free crap.

Been getting tempted to branch out and away from MW:O. I downloaded Path of Exile, found a copy of Diablo 3 for 25 bucks. I am thinking about trying MW:LL and downloaded Hawken to try as well.
Star Conflict.
And do yourself a favor and stay as far away from D3 as you can.
edit: corrected wrong game name

They need to make a new item, make up some BS name, and have it disable all lasers within 280m. You'll still have PPCs, so it's not unbalanced. See? Energy users that are just boating lasers are just bad and need to go to PPCs.
Do you see what I did there?
Dude.. so far ahead of you.. but PGI just won't bite.

Of course if you do you will not like Zerg in multiplayer.
Swarm lords are kind of annoying.. (they don't like banshees much) Vipers hate vikings.. they're just too slow to deal with the vikes.
The fact that they took away my 250mm Cannon barrage ability.. THAT enranges me. (That was my ultralisk crusher...)

Guess I've just been kind of anti-blizz. I liked the original starcraft. But stayed away from SC2 and D3.

I think the last few games I payed 50+ for and were absolutely phenomenal were Portal 2, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Good god that last one is amazing, especially if you're a fan of generation 1 Transformers. If they would have just made the Transformers movie with this game's plot instead of that monstrosity Michael Bay created...
Also if you ask me, LRM's still knock around your mech way too much if you get hit. Streaks still do it as well. It's annoying having to see through the knockaround and explosions they cause.

How is the HoTS campaign? I really kinda lost intrest in SC2 because the UMS games are absolutely abysmal compared to what we had in WC3. But the wings of liberty campaign was awesomesauce with an extra side of kickass.

I don't have HoTS yet (getting it in the mail on Monday, damnit I need a time machine!), but from reviews it basically has the same overall gameplay as WoL but you can switch unit upgrades at any time (in WoL if you used Credits or Research Points on upgrades they were permanent and irreversible).

Totally support it!
PGI just can't do missiles right, is the problem. SRM boating is terribly awesome. I got an A1 just for it, been loving it, same with my 5 SRM-6 stalker. I know its unfair, but if the enemy is going to bring cheese, I'd be cutting myself short to not bring it.
LRMs also seem to do massive damage when caught in the open or firing at an enemy stuck in a brawl with a friendly. Streaks make light mechs cry.
I don't see any other role/weight/style of play complaining about dakka or lasers nearly as much as missiles. I think PGI released ECM in its current state to resolve that, instead of trying to balance missiles out. Honest to God, that's what I think. They are dumping woodchips on a rubber fire to put it out. It may APPEAR to be working at first, but then it all goes up in smoke.
It's gonna be a rough and tumble ride until they fix both ECM and Missiles (and they really do need to be looked at separately), but I think it can be done.
The alternative is to give us MFCs and DFGs and then buff lasers and cannons.
