Welcome to Phase 1 of Operation:Steel Dominion

If you missed the test phase of the operation, part one of the first week of statistics can be found here:

Mechwarrior Online Forum Statistics

While the exact nature of this operation cannot be disclosed due to a large concentration of Comstar Operatives patrolling these channels, what can be detailed is the amount of forum data this operation will be providing to you.

As per planned with Phase 1 of Steel Dominion, the second set of statistics would disclose the Mechwarrior Online Community allegiances. In other words, what Great House and Mercenary units are faring best in their recruitment efforts, and what portion of the online community do they make up.

So without further adieu...

Posted Image

I assure you these numbers are quite accurate as of approximately 1:30 AM EST. Margin of error is slim.

A further breakdown is in progress for Mercenary Company allegiance. However since most of these organizations go unreported or keep this data sensitive, the following breakdown is only an estimate from the corresponding Mercenary websites or their own lance data provided. If you are a member or commander of a Mercenary Company and would like to submit your member data and estimated force strength for indexing and analysis, please contact your nearest Steel Dominion Operative.

Posted Image

If you do not see your Mercenary Company on here, either no data was available or your unit strength data was private.

Operation Steel Dominion will be an ongoing counter-ops unit to local Inner Sphere intelligence agency known as Comstar. This data will be updated regularly, with weekly recruiting reports as well as other data to be provided. Phase 1 is now complete. Phase 2 has begun...

One thing to keep in mind is that currently, at least for now, Davion and Steiner are one giant group as a part of the Federated Commonwealth.

While they do operate in tandem as a single House, the Federated Commonwealth was not *officially* created until 3056

I hope to God that you aren't getting any of your data from MRB affiliates...

Nope. All data has been acquired through my own means and data that is made available to any forum member who wishes to view it. I just compiled it all together and cut out several hours of manual labor.

Allegiances are for the weak.

God I hope they make people with Mercenary names like 'Clan Jade Falcon' and 'Wolf's Dragoons Alpha Regiment' change their names. Unless you are really part of those factions in game, you should not get to use their names.

+1 Hawkeye well done. I"m curious how many of those people that have no allegiance simply signed up for the beta and then never touch the forums.

Curious as to how many of them have beta invites in their emails that they just haven't checked yet.

Some of us have no preference, or haven't made up our mind yet ^_^ to be honest I do not know enough about the faction fluff to make a choice (I was a late bloomer, my first BT game was MechCommander!)

Also, some people are lurkers, just because they don't actively participate in the forums doesn't mean they aren't there, I know this is the case for many of my fellow Clan Jade Wolves (also, we haven't decided how we will be representing ourselves in MWO, it might be this)

But yes it would indeed suck if some people signed up, were successful and then didn't play!

This has been addressed by the developers and mercenary units are not allowed to resemble the names of real factions. These units will ultimately have to change their names.

Not too many. At least 109000 members have never posted on the forums. So if out of those 109000 users, 105000 people have not declared an allegiance either. Therefore the odds that these people filled out their beta profile information is highly unlikely.

My guess is your Beta odds were closer to 2000 out of 20-30,000, which is pretty good (if you met their criteria). I also suspect that the additional two sets of 500 Beta keys were also released because certain profiles were not as active as anticipated. Then again, they could have wanted more players.

Awwww..... you quashed my hopes... I was thinking that things were moving more smoothly than they expected, so they released more invites...

That's the LAST time I'm gonna be optimistic. ;)

It's official. Nubnub was mistaken! In his charts, House Liao had 1911 players (do you know that number? ;) ).

Haha... well done, Mr. Hawkeye! Looking forward to the next bundle of data.

As to why some of us don't pick allegiances:
I for one don't have enough information on how your allegiance will affect game play (other than the planets you can fight on, factions you can fight against, people you can play with). I'm talking real advantages and disadvantages, like having access to PPCs for a little less money than the other factions, but having to pay more for AC-10s and their ammo. I love the Combine, I like the Suns, and admire Marik, but until I know more, I won't pledge my allegiance... period!

I am hesitant to have my allegiance set at start due to the unknown of how the clan wars will be played out here and who will get to be in a clan with all the fun toys(mad cats, vultures, etc). I like House Marik, but might change if I know we are to be hamstrung by inferior mechs as is canon. Maybe Lostech introduction would balance it out, but imho too much is being withheld about clan and clan tech introduction into the game.

Hmm... I might have to move my affiliation to Lao due to their small numbers...

Nah. :)

Thanks. There will be future installments of data. This is only the first phase. Good to get the opinion from a user who has pledged no allegiance. I am sure once we get more information on the metagame, the numbers will shift drastically. I will be sure to have new data out regularly once this happens.

Understandable. I still have faith the developers will be smart enough to not implement a feature that will break the game and make it rather un-fun for everyone. Either the Clan assault will be computer controlled, or the game will be balanced. Anything else makes no sense as it is developer suicide.
