Ok It's a rough idea, I have been throwing around lately with people..

I call it "Mothership"
Mode would work like this..

8 people in match "Maybe more depending on updates".
One person is randomly selected from each team, to pilot the mothership for each team.

The mothership it's self, is a massive mech, larger than the atlas by at least 3 times, in weight and height.
It has to be a monster..
It is not defenseless.
It would have tons of armorments and ways to defend it's self as well.

The point of this mode is not just to kill eachother, but to disable the mothership..
Disabling the mothership, will instantly cause a lost connection to all linked mechs on the battlefield.
Causing an instant win for the other team.
( I would like to see a power down animation, from a top view, above the mothership, for the remaining mechs on the field, when that happens.)

In my minds eye, I see this as a mode that will allow respawns, up to 4 mechs, which are the 4 mechs in your primary home screen.
That way even people with 4 trial mechs, will have their respawns.

Obviously killing all of the mechs on the opposing team, would make it much easier to kill the mothership. But the mothership must die..
It would be a ridiculously slow mover but I'd like to see it move to some extent.

Anyway, what do you think?
I think this game desperately needs new modes and being a game scripter myself, I can see how it would work.
I'll keep mulling over new mode ideas and throwing them at yas.

Happy hunting..

i think instead of a mothership. have our mobile repair gantreys as the centre unit which the group needs to defend. this would give the team repair + re arm possibilitys but also mean that a team that has it mbr unit destroyed as the weaker team. this should still work within battletech world, as you wouldnt be allowing respawn, but allowing players to drop out of battle and repair their mech.

would like to see the ability to re-spawn from your primary mecks but they should be one of each weight class, if you don't have one of that class then you get the trial meck from that class.

Take a page from Star Conflict, but tweaked to fit the BT lore:

Have one player be a Captain. He keeps his regular mech. From this you can do two things:

Kill the captain=win.
Or, have "respawns" involving spawning in one of your other mechs (up to a certain number) until your captain is killed, at which point your current mech is your last despite having more.

Perhaps combine this with the previous post.. You can spawn up to 4 mechs (once each) as long as your captain is alive: One of each weight class. But if your captain dies, you can no longer spawn a new mech, even if you are on your first.

Or even simpler than all of this: Do not allow respawns at all. But give the captain a buff that is battleshifting. A few things come to mind, such as restocking stationary teammates nearby (go near captain and power down to restock ammo- giving a sound for every ton of ammo stocked.) Or other realistically possible effects. This way, killing the captain most certainly benefits your team (unless enemy is all laser boats, in which case they lost before they started anyways.)

Superheavy 'mechs are somewhat canon, but a NPC dropship or other static fortification would work better than a superheavy.
