I was watching a vid on youtube about the Gun Smith used by Ghost Recon future soldier and how it will allow you to be out and about and still be able to use your Android tablet/IPhone to make weapon combinations that you can use when you get home to play.

Would you like this option for MWO? Where you could log in to mechlab and make new configurations for your mechs and share them with your friends. Even be able to buy new mechs using a friends configuration with the cost of mech and modules included in the price.

I personally would like this though not expecting it on launch and would pay a small fee to download the app to use it. More fun than Fruit Ninja anyday :D

What's your thoughts...

Yeah, my best ideas always come when I'm watching cartoons in the garage on my 47" LCD with 5.1 surround smoking my ciggy, drinking my capn and coke with ice that I got from my outside fridge freezer. :D

I'd rather they spend their time and resources on the actual game itself.

Wasn't asking them to sacrifice their development team to build it before games release. It was a future idea for them. Greater connectivity is better for us and a few dollars for the app would help them. It's a win win situation.

Question is: If they had it, would you use it?

The thing is, with a F2P game like MW:O this game is always in development - even when it's officially launched. That's how they make their money, by consistently introducing new micro-transactions. Would they really have enough time and resources to create such an app? Well I suppose it would depend on how well this game does, no doubt. I also suppose they could charge a small nominal fee for the service as part of their F2P plan.

I will explain again even though its not hard to understand the question.
If they had such a system, would you use it?

Not asking if they have the budget, not asking if it fits in their time schedule, not asking if it's even possible. Question was very simple and requires nothing more than a yes or no answer with maybe a few ideas about what the system could do with comparisons to what other apps have done, example already given.

I'd love to see it and have it link with the game somehow so you could upload/download configurations to tweak them on the road.

The app could be designed by a third party so it doesn't tie up developer time and money, but it would need to be administered properly so that it remains relevant through game patches and content releases. Ideally, if it was a good app, a deal could be reached where it could sync with the game and automatically patch in new variables.

If I was to use an app like this it would have to be clean and easy to use. A nice 2d overlay of the mech with drag/drop for the weapons and equipment, a price calculator, and I'm set. But imagine for a second, if you can sync the app for patching purposes, why not also allow the app to actually conduct transactions? This could be a boon for the developers. People spending money on the game, buying equipment from their smartphones, and they aren't even at their computer. You're out at the 7-11 and you get a good idea for a mech. Build it on your phone, hit buy, and the app syncs to the server, deducts your c-bills, and you have a new design sitting in your bay when you log on to the game once you're home.

I'd love for this to come about down the road - or any sort of Android support (talk to friends, manage merc units, look at the metagame standings) because it's fun to have some tie-in product to tinker with. It's definitely not a high priority but this is the kind of thing that would keep me tinkering with the game at all hours of the day.

What about apps for other - possibly, not so popular, older or up-and-coming - operating systems such as Blackberry OS, Symbian OS, Windows 7 Phone, and Windows 8 Phone? I certainly would not consider buying an Android mobile phone or iPhone just to run this app.

It sounds like we may need some clarification on what kind of features we would expect specifically in this iOS/Android/Win8 app. Also, whether or not this app would actively communicate with the game server to make changes on our account or if it merely serves as reference material or R&D (ie. creating different mech configurations via the scaled down mech lab on the app).

The need for this makes one a tad OCD.

Exactly, other things are more important.

Roadmaps are not built like that. It's always the cost vs the need.
