Or...it is much more likely that 8 novices went up against 8 other novices and stomped them. Novice matches are frequently stomp fests because everybody charges at each other. When this happens, one side with have their first 1-2 get insta-gibbed, and then the disparity will cause the other side to get stomped. My guess is that you think the other side is a "clan" simply because you got creamed, when in fact, it is almost always not.

Nah.

If you have been playing wargames for over half a century, it is readily obvious which teams are efficiently organized from the get-go.

Efficiency and winning is a lot of fun. Hats off to the clans/mercs who work to pull it off.

Recreational players losing so quickly and regularly to 8-man clans/mercs is not fun.

Give the players/subscribers new to MWO a chance to learn the game, and love the game.

Getting plastered in three minutes every fifth match or so is not a great gaming experience.

Give the clans/mercs a gridiron where they can tromp themselves to their hearts content.

And let casual, recreational, sci-fi robot lovers enjoy MWO in a more equitable environment.

The seperate ques concept for clan/merc battles sounds like the best idea.

OMMFG!

THERE ARE ALREADY SEPARATE QUEUES FOR GROUPS OF 8 PLAYERS.

Unless you are actually in a group, created before launch, of 8 players, you are NOT playing an 8 player group.

@Red3

I think you seriously need to separate your fiction from non-fiction. MWO is a fantasy universe and anyone can be in any clan or any other group.

Methinks he meant to point out that the only Clans in MW:O, excepting the Scottish gents, are the Clans of Kerensky, any generic labeling as clan of any player team that people create on their own whims is not considered the same thing. Methinks you also need to refine your understanding of the BT fiction and the vast milieu it represents. The more appropriate term to use for the "generic" player grouping in MW:O would be team, tribe, faction, group, corp, corps, merccorp, merccorps, etc - just not clan because it is not part of the MW:O fantasy world.

1) 8 vs PUG is cannot be done with the current game mechanics - it's literally impossible.

2) Synch dropping vs PUGs is greatly frowned upon by the PGI staff as circumventing game rules and a borderline exploit.

3) Synch dropping is notoriously unreliable.

4) Just because you lost, doesn't mean the other team was an 8 man.

5) My awesome dies in about 30 seconds while I'm on a 4 man, so what's your point about dying early as a PUG?

6) There is already an 8v8 queue. You're asking for something that already exists. Enjoy.

7) It's a competitive PVP video game. If you want something that is fair for everyone, you'll want to go play connect 4 or something. Just having custom mech and varying skill levels makes the game completely unbalanced.

8) New players do have a chance to learn the game. It's called a testing ground (and an upcoming training ground) as well as trial mechs. Ironically, people like you wanted the trial mechs to be pulled because it was too "unfair to beginners" and now suddenly everyone recognizes that you need forgiving mechs to learn the game on :).

This used to be a serious problem before MM phase 1 and 2. In other words, it's not happening. At most, you're up against a 4 man, but with the advent of MM, phase 3, this is no longer a problem. No matter what you think you are experiencing, if you are a new and unskilled player, you will not be up against "clans", and if you start out losing quite a bit, you'll fall down to a low enough bracket that it should even out until you get better. When you start to win and move up quite a bit, you'll tend to be paired off against groups again, but at that point, you're not a "recreational" player anymore.

Everyone here has disagreed with you, so maybe you should start listening and read up on the links other people have provided about how MWO matches you up with other people for games.

Hech yeah I'm all for clans getting and staying on their "own" server. It'd be worth it just not to hear the HerP Derp from the 12 year olds as they run round in the OP'd mechs talking about how great they are.
