But then they'd lose money on all the Tiger camo sales they'll be making from all the OCD people who just have to have Tiger camo available for all their heavy mechs.
What they're doing is actually smart: Sale on Tigerstripe camo on Heavies that ends just before the new Heavy is released. So people pick up Tigerstripe camo on all their existing heavy mechs, then a new one is released and lots of people will likely want to Tigerstripe it, too. Better that they pay full price to do so. The early adopters and impatient folks pay full price. One day, it'll be on sale again, and the rest of us can pick it up then. Choice is yours.

For the record I'm not some random scrub who wants to save a few bucks on a product, but someone with years in industry making truck loads of cash over projected results due to merchandising efforts on my part. When I see something like this it makes me make an odd face like this ... 0_o.
There's a difference in promoting sales and attracting sales from customers(making them repeat customers of that service.) through good will and understanding of what customers want.(within reason.)
The above request isn't without merit.
There's a reason why there are price match and return periods on items from a store, because customers feel ripped off and abused when a product they bought the day before goes on sale. This is slightly different, because we know we're sort of screwed with it.
So people can make excuses all they want, but it's bad business, intenional or not. It's not worth letting "X" number of customers down by doing it this way.
Please don't confuse "smart" with "schemey".
