For those mechs that can take it, should allow that mech to carry an additional "command consumable" like an airstrike, arty barrage. There needs to be a better incentive to carry it.

Also, on this topic....the airstrike from the description isnt going to be modeled correctly. The arty barrage should have some random dispersion, as its a circle and shells are being lobbed from off board.

The airstrike on the other hand, is a column, and should have arrows visible to the person laying it, and the bombs should strike in order along that path from start to terminus.

Not necessarily.

They could keep the rectangular shape, and have it be a few bombers flying in formation dropping a few bombs each, instead of a single flyer dropping all of them in a line.

Form the description it seems to be modeled fairly correctly. Random dispersion is fairly limited for a battery of artillery guns. Air strike will have a direction: in line with what ever direction the player is currently facing with the aircraft passing over the player on their way in if I read the description correctly, so while that make make it harder to use in just the way you want it, it will have a fixed direction to allow intuitive deployment. As for the order of the air strike hits, are we assuming one aircraft or multiple because if the latter they are not guaranteed to drop exactly the right order.

As for Command Console giving an additional strike. I fail to see the logic there. Calling in an artillery or air strike is a not a command level function. Any one can do so if they need to and know how.

I just wish the command console let us have the extra mech commander player on our team.

Thats not what they use in Battletech. Its only a handful of bombs, not a carpet bombing like we did in WW2.

And im pretty sure from the size of it, and the number of bombs dropped, that its a single Aerospace fighter bomber. Im familiar with Aerotech.

For 8 tons it would be fun if it came with a squadron of helicopters or low life tanks. The player could then command them where to attack move using the map. As long as the relative fighting strength is low of the units it could add a lot of fun.

Bombs actually tended to be atypical ordinance for aerospace fighters because it was more effective for them to just strafe most of the time. External hardpoints were very limited and usually maxed out at around 5.

Yes, I would also like to see "Air Strike" modeled via strafing runs as well ala' our modern day Warthogs and have an actual bombing run be something else(with explosive type bombs or Napalms/Inferno). Offers some more diversity.. But since PGI is glacial slow on the modeling, its bombs and they are in line when you go for the cheapest non-upgraded PTW kind. Regardless if its one or two FB's, the pattern should still lay from one to the other end, in the direction of the arrows, with a very small amount of deviation just to keep it visually interesting.
