Greetings Mechwarrior! MWO is great fun for the rogue pilot, sure. But it’s not all unicorns and rainbows (well, at least not all the time). It can be frustrating. It can be hairy. Heck, it can be lonely. I for one believe that running around in giant mechanized bipedal death engine is best experienced in the true battletech spirit—with friends, lance-mates—as a lance. I’m looking to join with folks who feel the same way. Please consider joining me in forming Panzer Company.

Mission Statement

Panzer Company will play the role of a mercenary unit in the MWO universe. We will cater to a group of players that fall mid-range between purely casual and heavy duty professional tourney-type people. Our roster will be comprised of mid to high ability Mechwarriors who are generally dedicated to cohesive tactical play. We will provide the intimate experience of a relatively small and close-knit group without the hullabaloo of a big old formalized type clan where you end up a number, but with comparable organization and strategic aims on the ground.

We subscribe to a semi-professional mentality—competitive, talented and cooperative—but not at the expense of a good attitude and just having a plain old blast. We will foster camaraderie, sportsmanship, and a fun atmosphere.

Our intent is, of course, to make mad C-bills. So much so that we'll need a mobile field base just to tote it all around. Our plan is to kick major metallic butt and chew bubblegum. And we’re all out of gum.

Organization

Below is the current intended organization and chain of command for the Company (all positions currently available):

Company Commander: Yogi the Bear
Captain: Available

Tiger Lance
Lance Leader: Yogi the Bear
Lieutenant: Available
Mechwarrior: Available
Mechwarrior: Available

Tiger Lance is activated immediately, and up to two additional lances will be activated as required (Panther and Panzer Lances). Responsibilities are (but not limited to) the following: captains will serve as mediators and coordinate drops; Lance leaders will organize drop composition and take responsibility for issuing battlefield commands; secondary officers will stand in for their leads as required; and mechwarriors will naturally smash anything in the lance's way.

We’re not going to have a complicated rank system. This isn’t going to be very formal with titles and all that nonsense (“yes sir commander sir!”). Besides, this is a merc outfit. Geez. We’re not going to tell you what kind of mech to pilot or what kind of lasers you’re allowed to use. I want people that know enough how to deck out a mech properly anyway. Just have fun, dude.

Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)

This section describes Panzer modus operandi on the battlefield. Of course, lance leaders must, and are expected to, adapt to dynamic situations (and be creative!):
  • Light mechs will perform reconnaissance and/or long range capping in the early phase of op and will shift to a screening role for the rest of the lance once enemy disposition is established.
  • All other mechs will enter into battle in formation as described by the lance leader. No ridiculous straying unless permitted.
  • Lance leaders will outline a general plan at the outset of each engagement.
  • Mechwarriors will confirm and follow the lance-leader’s orders, immediately and to the best of their ability.
  • Mechwarriors will coordinate with lance-mates and be aware of their maneuvers.
  • Mechwarriors will maintain regular communication with the team and provide a constant stream of practical intel whenever available.
  • The lance will be mindful of the herd and will use them to our advantage; Lance leaders will communicate to the herd the Lance’s general intentions.
Expectations

These are our minimum requirements:
  • At least 16 years of age
  • Will provide an application and submit to trials as required
  • Willing and ready to use skype for in-game communication (at least for now)
  • Dedicated to working under the command of your lance leader and in tandem with your lance mates (or assume command if necessary)
  • Will conduct yourself respectably (at least for the most part)
  • Have fun at all times
Application

Please copy and paste in a post below (answer the questions while you're at it):
  • Age/M/F?
  • Location?
  • What’s your first language?
  • What do you do?
  • Say a few things about your personality.
  • Why did the chicken cross the road?
  • What’s your leadership style?
  • How are you acquainted with MW?
  • How often do you play and at what time of day?
  • How long do you usually play a given game until you move on to another?
  • What’s your mech of choice and preferred weight class?
  • How long have you been playing MWO?
  • What’s your KDR?
  • What’s your military experience (of any kind, not necessarily veterancy)? Are you knowledgeable about basic battlefield tactics?
  • Are you interested in a particular position? If so, why and how are you qualified?
  • Do you agree to abide by Panzer Company’s SOP’s and minimum expectations to the best of your ability (sign your initials below)?
  • What will you bring to the table?
  • What’s your email?
  • What’s your name?
  • What’s you quest?
  • What’s the air speed velocity of a laden swallow?
I love Mechwarrior. If you are still reading you probably do too, and that’s good. But I have a life. I have a job. I used to have a girlfriend (can you tell I’m bored?). I am not the most technologically gifted person in the world. So with that said, I won’t be designing or implementing a website (although if we grow into that I would consider, if someone was interested in taking it on). I am not prepared to spend money on this venture. So in that respect we will start small. But, we will be open to new opportunities while remaining true to our mission.

Lastly, although I am looking for a competent and well-organized team, I am above all looking for folks that have good personalities, will express a genuine personal interest in their lancemates, and are interested in building friendships. If you think we have something in common, you agree to subscribe to the above-mentioned, and are interested in crushing some serious stravag scum, Give us a thought.

Best Regards,
Yogi
