I mean this in all seriousness: I have never experienced it. Is it a connection problem that some have like classic FPS lag? I have been told that it makes it hard to hit light mechs but I dont seem to have a problem doing that. If someone could please expand on this it would be much appriciated.

When you see something happen in game, it happened a few milliseconds ago on the server. This means that when you pull the trigger your target will have moved. This makes it hard to hit something, you have to guess where it will be. The effect is more pronounced on faster mechs. This is called a lagshield (your lag shields fast targets).

For lasers and machineguns state-rollback has been implemented. This means that the server will roll-back the game to see if you'd have hit your target when you pulled the trigger.

It's what allows a Raven to tank more damage than an Atlas.

Try not to get too involved into the details of it.
The current state of being is that shooting what you see does always mean that you hit it. Even if there were sparks and 'splosions.
After the net code fixes then shooting what you see on your screen should be real hits. WYSIWIG (what you see is what you get).
