Poll: What is your Best game match setting? (8 member(s) have cast votes)

What could your Best game match setting be?

  1. 1) predefined tonns, predefined chassis, predefined amount of players. Both the teams totally equal (0 votes [0.00%])

    Percentage of vote: 0.00%

  2. 2) only Tonnage cap: 2 teams can deploy as many players and chassis they want within that cap without being the same setup (3 votes [37.50%] - View)

    Percentage of vote: 37.50%

  3. 3) Cap on Tonns and Player number: the team deploy the Chassis they prefer but same number of players and within the cap (4 votes [50.00%] - View)

    Percentage of vote: 50.00%

  4. 4) Caps on Tonns, Players and Chassis: player can only change the "type of mech" inside the predefined chassis. (1 votes [12.50%] - View)

    Percentage of vote: 12.50%

Hi guys,

I was wondering about how you like to play the game in term of "lance balance".

There are some league and some championship that propose a predefined concept like:

2-2-2-2 or 3-3-1-1 chassis,

and no one knows how the CW will look like but, my questions is, what do YOU think is the best game setting in order to have the most dynamic, wide, engaging, competitive match?

Do you like asymmetric game where few heavier mechs fight vs more lighter mechs?
Do you like same number of players but different chassis configuration?

Here 4 example I selected:

1) predefined setting:

both the team play exactly the same conditions,
for example, both play 2 atlas - 2 catapult - 2 centurion - 2 ravens

2) Cap only on Tonns:

both the team must stay within a defined Tonn amount, but they can play also 5 vs 8, and can deploy whatever mech they want.
for example : 4-1-0-0 vs 2-2-0-4 (cap at 470 tonns: 5 vs 8 players)

3) Cap on tonns and players: you can play all the chassis combo you want but MUST play 8 vs 8 and at the tonns predefined,
for example: 3-1-0-4 vs 2-2-2-2 (cap at 470 tonns: 8 vs 8 players only)

4) cap on tonns, players and chassis: you can play 8 vs 8, with the same chassis config both the team (2-2-2-2 or 1-1-3-3 or whatever) but you can take the mech you wish for each predefined chassis.

What do you think and why?

I voted for a tonnage limit system under an 8v8 model.

I think an 8 man team could still prolly win against a 4 man team that decides to bring all atlas' (say if there was a 400 ton limit, but the real creativity is seeing what can be done with tonnage amongst a large group. It will hopefully, foster different mech variations and make even the spider viable.

Btw, I had to read your post before I understood what I was really selecting. You might to stream line the questions so that're a bit more understood (I originally voted for the second option)

Yes, my perception is that 1 atlas cannot win vs 3 ravens, so if the ratio between the team player number is like 1 to 3 or 1 to 2, the larger team is of course stronger in terms of mobility and fire power.
but if you move between min 6 players max 8, (or when there will be the 12 vs 12, you could be min 9 max 12) maybe the player amount advantage will be no more so significant.

surely an unbalanced player/tonns amount will increase the number of combo you can deploy in the match and so will expand the creativity and the game experience. It will also totally change your approch against enemy team because if you must focus on your light mechs, maybe you dont want to rush the enemy lance but you try to snipe them at range trying to coordinate with your mates. This could be a game experience you can offer only if you unbalance the player amount

Is this for prearranged matches only? If so, then here is what I'd like to see:

Player number and tonnage maximums, no minimums. You could have a 300 ton, 8 player match with three atlases on one team and six hunchbacks on the other. Or, you could have 2 atlases and a stalker on one team and 8 ravens on the other. Or any other combination that totals up to 8 players and up to 300 tons. You'd of course want to let the teams arrange which parameters they'll be playing under.
