When I use my C1 if I have a friendly scout on TS and the brawl is not in full swing those missiles do not leave their tubes until the scout tells me he/she can keep the lock. I also lose perfectly good locks all the time because somebody has their head on a swivle and scurries under the cover of an ECM carrying 'Mech that my team has not found yet. I also play as scouts/harrassers and as a direct fire sniper or brawler. If I take LRM fire that was not part of a manuever that had that calculated risk factored in, I mentally kick myself for doing something stupid. If you are taking it from behind cover you have A: poor cover, B: are not hugging your cover close enough, or my personal favorite, C: you are being spotted by a scout and have no cover, that nice gentle hill blocking the firer's LoS is concealment. LRMs are not the "Easy button," they are not "I win!" button, they are the "You made a tactical error and I will punish you for it" button.

But take heart, first patch next month splash damage is being pulled. Missiles of all kinds will not hurt nearly as much any more and if anything will probably be pretty gimped until they decide they have the splash modeling right.

My cover was just fine! My atlas was completely covered by that light pole! LRMs are just broke!

Advanced target decay does wonderful things under 400 meters. If you got tagged as you were going into cover it can put a nasty trajectory on the missiles. Also be aware of your surroundings, just because you broke LOS doesn't mean you aren't being tagged or targeted from another position.
