If What's-his-name has enough knowledge of ancient Chinese mythology to know who Yen-Lo-Wang is, then it's reasonable to assume he'd know that the Rising Sun symbol isn't Chinese.

oh SNAP!

but, ah, yeah, Wang is a chinese name, not japanese, rising sun is more current than Yen-Lo's time frame too

I like the paint job but with this paint job it would no longer be the Yen!!

Again, Yen-Lo Wang had more than that one paint job.
Here is one Yen-Lo Wang mini painted to match the description in first few chapters of BoK
Lethal Heritage, page 49.
"..painted in a mottled brown and black pattern, with some blue near the faceplate, mimicking the coloration of a falcon."

Cool paint, but its stupid to be offended/annoyed/ect by fluff of game about gigant robots in future..... It would be same stupid as me geting annoyed cuz GW(GamesWorkshop) put some horse riders stylized on Polish husaria under the command of Tsar....BS, Its game.....be adult, get over it & enjoy shootin lazors.

I finally got around to fixing my biggest pet peeve (at least visually) about MWO. This is by far the most complex texture I've ever done, and the first time I tried a design crossing multiple UV shells (the dragon.) I'm really pleased with the results.

Very nice, they should contact you for a job.

I would love to see this in game as a sort of secondary skin option.

I love your re-texture. As a Chinese guy, I'm not really offended by the YLW's in-game skin (it is the canon, after all - not PGI's fault) but I think this simply looks bad-freaking-a$$.

Yen-lo-wang is not supposed to be culturally accurate. But the Devs did say that there would be custom hero textures, and I approve of yours. Perhaps they would be wiling to use it.

Thats a kick *** skin for the centurion. A mech that is named after an officer in the Roman Legion, painted like a Japanese naval pennant, piloted by a mostly chines man, who is loyal to a British style house, and had a super star career as a WWE wrestler in a giant robot.

I would love to see that on a dragon.

You should make more skins. That is a great skin.

I would honestly be willing to sign over all rights to it just to see it replace the one they have now. Though I'd have to redo the dragons' head and claws since I pulled the from random pics on the interwebs.

As an actual Chinese I approve this image. Will definitely buy it if it becomes a skin. I'm not saying I'm offended by the original but come on, it's a 'mech with a Chinese name piloted by a Chinese named person, and it's got a giant Japanese navy flag painted all over it.

Also this one just looks plainly better.

Has anyone considered that for anyone who survived the second Sino-Japanese war, the rising sun emblem would be the living embodiment of death?

Has anyone considered we don't have accurate representations of things from the present, and that history is more best guess than hard fact. Thus, after 1000 years of diaspora, and endless war, anyone consider that knowledge of Terran History of the20th Century might be just a tad cloudy?

Actually it is PGI's fault and it's not canon. This is the Len Yo Wang's canon paint scheme from that era:

Or from Camospecs:

Neither of which are the Japanese Imperial Navy flag.

This makes the beautiful 'mech Centurion even more sexy.

Really well done!

I don't know why an argument got started over this thing, but I personally like this paint scheme more than the current one because it is more unique. :)
There's a lot more intricacy in your skin, perhaps something that would get in the way should PGI want to use it. O:

What does Dragon have anything to do with the King of the Underworld?

Don't forget that to some cultures, mainly China and South Korea, the Rising Sun flag is a symbol like the Swastika for Israel :/

Plus the whole fact the history of the YLW has Liao at then end of the owners names....I always wondered if he was Confused.

Very badass paintjob though!

The repaint is dope! Maybe PGI should start offering each hero with a default scheme and after 5,000 matches you unlock an alternate scheme.

Looks great. I am sure Justin Xiang-Allard would have liked that paint job for Yen-Lo-Wang. Unfortunately the original was just a mod of a standard Centurion (LRM10/AC10) done hastily after his first match on Solaris. His son Kai might have had the time to have it painted like this though. In any case, I would prefer this paint job to the one we have now in game. :)
