I know we are all waiting for this. I could care less about the coolant flush but the artillery was going to be nice, but nothing mentioned in the patch notes about it.

=(

Nor custom camo for Hero mechs, which is equally disappointing (for me). Hoping they just forgot to type it into the notes in the throes of much more pertinent (maps, balance, new mech) news, but I'm not holding my breath... no really... *heave* *gasp*

What worries me is this "Coolant boost" thing they've snuck in as well. So.... 30,000 GXP is required this patch to stay competitive, then another 30,000 GXP in a week or two for air strikes and artillery. I wonder what percentage of the player base has 60,000 GXP lying around unused... 1% maybe? Unless your full time job is playing MechWarrior to grind out the XP the hard way, I can't see how this consumable system can be called anything but pay to win.

This is the Free to Play model that we've essentially been asking for - Pay 2 Skip Grind. Most of the player base already has that amount of XP sitting in excess on their favorite 'mechs, so if you would like to give PGI money you can buy some XP conversion, or you can be patient, play the game, and eventually you'll generate enough XP yourself to get these for free. You could also just buy the MC version of the thing for a one-shot deal for the times when you really need the competitive edge you are looking for.

Mind you, it's a looong grind to build up that much GXP. But the fact that it's there as an option is what prevents it from being pay 2 win.

They tried politely encouraging people to buy MC with weekend sales, vanity items, premium time, get-it-now mechs...

Now they're politely showing you that the bar has been raised, and you will need 30,000GXP to stay current. A single 6.95 purchase does that, coincidentally.

Its just safer to do coolant. Airstrikes might be game changers plus there some graphic work that needs to be done.

Pushed back due to bug...

Did you guys forget splash damage is getting removed next patch until they fix it? What's the point in having artillery if it does no splash damage? lol

I'm a bit disappointed in the pushed back date for changing colors for hero mechs (and founders?). However I am glad they pushed back Artillery. I would rather they not have it at all right now. I vehemently despise things like artillery in a game mode like team death match. It should just be used for an attacking/defending game mode or the drop ship one, where I won't mind so much that one of my lives was used up due to dying to artillery. In team death match however, I would feel very cheated and cheapened if someone used an artillery strike to kill me that takes up no space or weight on a mech; and they just bought it with cbills or MC. Team death match should just be mech on mech skill.
