Jaggers are not brawlers, I have equipped my JM6-DD with 300XL engine (put in a standard unit and it becomes toothless) and dual ER large laser, dual AC2 and quad machine guns. Its a good long range sniper and occasionally takes down mechs at shorter range when their armour are exposed in places with the machine guns pounding their crits at every corner. Other than that they scumb quickly. This config makes it fast so it can get away at 75km/h from any other heavies or assaults. Its good to hit other mechs while movig fast enough to be difficult to be aimed at. this can be practiced on the 2 new maps which are large enough to drive while shooting.About the weak armor, yeah it need to be configured smartly so you can add more than the standard armor plates. If you leave it unchanged, without any weight saving upgrades, its just a target.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned (didn't look through 16 pages of posts), but the autocannon barrels on the JM6-DD (and maybe the JM6-S) are reversed when playing in a match. The left arm has the AC/5 above the AC/2, and the right arm has the AC/2 above the AC/5. They show up correctly in the 'MechLab, however.

Definitely needs to be tweaked for number of reasons as many people have posted. Although some folks say jager isn't brawler which is partly true. However no other mech can carry dual ac20 and move at 70-80 kph with enough armor/ammo to do serious damage.
Esp when there are say 2-3 jager with dual ac20 roaming in pack. That said the cons of large head hitbox, etc. are not that big deal against pro of running dual ac20 XL engine jager. At least k-2 dual ac20 couldn't pack XL engine and was slow so you could outmanuver it. However jager is fast so it can outmanuver you and position itself well.
Couple suggestions for jager tweak.
- Don't allow XL on jager with dual ac20 so it can't move as fast and let it have same determiment as dual ac20 k2.
- Another could be to tweak ac20 itself. Which will probably mean jager will switch to say 3x uac5 but that's better than current state of dual ac20 in my opinion.

Now that I've Mastered the Jagermech, here's my opinion on it. Starting with the builds I ran. All of them run between 300 and 325 armor. Maxed torso armors, 14 on the 3 backs, all the rest up front. Maxed head, between 20 and 30 on the legs and arms. All of them use mandatory Double Heat Sinks and Endo-Steel. And XL engines. Ballistics just weigh too much for STD engines.
S: XL300, 2X AC/10(4 tons ammo), 4X Medium Laser
DD: XL255, 2X Gauss(4 tons ammo), 2X Medium Laser, 4X Machineguns(1 ton ammo)
A: XL260, 2X AC/10(4 tons ammo), 4X SSRM2(2 tons ammo)
I managed to do very well with all of these builds. I tried some AC/20 builds but found that the long cooldown and short range on them did not mesh with my playstyle quite as well as the AC/10s or Gauze rifle. I also found that the AC/20 Yagers are very "1 trick pony".
The S and DD aren't different enough. Machineguns aren't an interesting or effective weapon no matter how you cut it, and ACs are too heavy to use more than 4 effectively, ever. Energy weapons on the other hand have a very effective, very cheap on weight and crit slow weapons.
So in pretty much every situation, the S is better than the DD. There needs to be something that sets the DD apart. Just having a viable low-end ballistics might be it.
The A might be very appealing for some, but as the vast majority of my playtime in MWO is with an AWS-8R, I don't feel like there was much of a gameplay difference until I switched to the quad SSRM build which was... quite nasty. ECM is the only thing that could stop me. Otherwise I found myself coming out winning of 2v1s or 3v1s.
Besides that, the low default armor of the Yagers is a death sentence. Because you HAVE to use an XL engine, you HAVE to up your torso armor.
Also putting Fero Fibrous on the DD is a **** move. You're basically forcing players to fork out the extra money to remove it and get Endo Steel.
So yea, all in all the Yager is a great mech. The S and DD need to be more different. There needs to be a good low weight Ballistics option.
