First of all this is not a winge about the game, but a sensible question.

With the way the game currently works I think the JagerMech may have a difficult role to fill.

On certain maps like Alpine and the new Desert map may come in to its own as a long range support mech. But, why take a Jager over a 4X? The 4X has more armour can mount similar weaponry, so in my mind this the more sensible bet.

But other variants of the Jager would be great (2 LRMs and 2 PPCs for example), but that's only 1 out of the 3 variants. The other two are less viable due to bringing nothing to the table that could out match a Cataphract.

I want to love this mech, I love the Dakka! But it's not going to be as good as my CTF-4X/IM/3D.

I will be buying the LRM variant, but I think that's it at the mo.

Be interested to hear your views on this mech and what role you intend to fill with it.

Mmmm well I'll be getting it for something to do. Practicalities of it somewhat irrelevant to the methods used in this game to unlock proficiencies.

Focussing on actual practicalities though I suspect it to be a combination of ballistics and missiles that are unavailable on other mechs in a profile that makes it easier to crest and shoot than the 4x. But we will wait and see.

Besides the fact it is new, Cataphracts and Catapults are more appealing.

:) :)

One reason I see for taking the Jager over the Cataphract is that it isn't as slow. I can't stand the 4x just because that thing can barely move. What I really have to see before I decide if it is of any use is how it's hitboxes work out. That is what really makes or breaks a mech.

Gonna buy 3 and fill basics. Than sell 1-2. Keeping at least 1 and getting it up to master cause i dont know what else to buy/lvl/grind.

Big reason to take Jagermech is the speed. Phract can't go higher thn a 255 (59km/h) while the Jager starts with a 260 (64.8km/h) and most likely will match the Catapult's engine size (bordering on 80km/h). Also, it should be able to do dual AC/20... and probably quad UAC/5? (likely the latter won't be practical due to tonnage)

And, y'know, it looks awesome.

4x = slow, bad hitboxes, bad gun placement.

Jagermech = fast, probably better hitboxes, good gun placement.

Also, AC40 + XL

This game is all about boating, 70+ LRM's or 4x AC/5's and 6x SRM6 or even 6x PPC so i don't think I'd like to mix and match ballistics and LRM's so it's a no from me although i may try a twin LB10-X AC, twin/quad (If i can) SRM6 with some laser backup for a laugh like i do on my 84Kph CTF-3D if the variant allows :) :)

I will likely be buying at least one, if not three, if I'm pleased with the first one. The Cataphract is more brawler/close support to me. I like the idea of a faster heavy for more long range support.

Not really a Jagermech if it doesnt have paper armor. Not sure why MWO allows mechs to have so much more armor than their base variants. They limit engine size for each variant using the base engine. Max armor should be the same.

Even if it's ill suited for MWO I'll own and keep 3, it was a staple back in my TT days and have been waiting to pilot one forever.

I plan on getting 1, possibly two. I believe I should have the cbills for 2. But I may get my 3rd and final Centurion instead so I can finish eliting them. But I've been waiting for the Jager for a while.

Most likely not, only thing would be if the cockpit AND in-game model are the prettiest ever seen in a robot stomper, ever.

Probably won't get one. I just don't like ballistics.

I heard it was made of something weak, like paper mache` or Raditz.

I'm definitely buying all three and mastering them. I just love the concept of the Jagermech, and the name itself is quite nice. Have a ballistic boat will be fun, and I've always gravitated towards long range and support mechs.

The LRM version is just gravy, too. :)

I find the 4x as a "dakka dakka mech" quite disappointing. It's way too slow, even my Atlas is faster :\
I play my founder cata with 2xLRM and 2xPPC but I don't really love torso hardpoints. The Jag'mech can fit PPCs in the arms, and those are positioned quite high so it's a good solution for playing peekaboo following hills and irregular terrain.

Moreover I love its design even if someone says it's ugly :)
