Just looking for a bit of clarification on this line:

- Added Throttle Decay gameplay option (ON by default). When Throttle Decay is enabled:
- Gameplay options can be enabled/disabled on the fly from the new in-game Options Screen.
- Pressing the ‘W’ key will sets the throttle to 100%.
- Pressing the ‘S’ key will sets the throttle to -100%.
- Releasing the ‘W’ and ‘S’ key sets the throttle to 0.
- Keyboard users can now use the NumPad to directly control throttle (using the 0-9, +, -, and . keys).

Does this apply only to joysticks?

Otherwise am I reading this correctly... these changes ONLY take effect if you enable Throttle Decay, but it will be enabled for everyone by default... even non-joystick users?

Will this also mean, that if enabled, W == 100% throttle, S == 100% reverse throttle, while the numberpad sets a percentage ( 1 = 10%, 5=50%, etc ) or + and - for going up and down in 10% increments?

If so, I predict a LOT of friendly fire post patch, as people misread the "NUMBERPAD" part, and instead hit 5, and fire-off weapon group 5 into your teammates arse!

If I am reading this new option correctly, im trying to decide if I like it or not. It's very similar to MW4 I suppose, but I am not a fan of using numberpad values, especially on my one laptop that doesn't have one!

This is not a bump.

Ok, maybe it is...

Throttle decay will be Keyboard based and on by default (annoying but understandable for people who are used to FPS controls.

So as of the next match I play, unless I turn if off, by default W is going to put my to 100% throttle, and D is going to put me into 100% reverse?

If that's the case, post patch it is going to be hilarious watching people that didn't read the patch notes! This seems like a really bad thing to enable by default.

I guess it makes the game more accessible for people just starting. *shrug* I'm all for adding things like this to ease new players into the game and asking all the vets to turn it off rather than all the new players to turn it on seems the way to go.

Edited because I ended up saying the exact opposite of what I meant. :)

Since it returns to zero upon release, it will just work like pretty much every MMO/FPS using keyboard movement and won't screw with people all that much to start. Since you can now change setting from inside the match, I see a lot of people doing some standing around in/near the spawn in their first match.

The point is that as soon as they panic and take their hand off the key they will slow down and come to a stop. Not the way I want to drive, but I get why they did it.
