We all know that missile damage is broke. It's good that PGI is bringing a hot fix within the week. However there are some aspects of this incident that I actually like.

It is forcing me to become a better player. I have to stick to cover and develop approach tactics. Brawls are near non existent. Teams have to coordinate to manage multipronged strategies, setting up choke points and firing lanes. Scouts are now essential to relay enemy positions.

It just seems that the game is more deeper and fulfilling this way than the massive brawl that most matches end up as.

Your thoughts?

It's fantastic for those that like to use mechs to re-enact WW1 trench warfare. Personally I'm not playing until the devs are able to fix this untested mess they tossed out there. The entire game right now is if you don't have LRMS, you're doing it wrong.

I see what you're saying. I actually agree, but I always practice LRM avoidance techniques. Always know where cover is.

Totaly agree.

One question I think should be asked is: Which do people prefer LRM fests or ECM running rampant?

One feeds the other, they're just different sides of the same coin.

It's also forcing me to play my Atlas =D I usually pilot my C1 almost exclusively (because I do love my kitty), but I just feel bad about LRMing people to the ground and walking away with scores like 6-0. So I've been playing my Altas instead, and I gotta say, it's been pretty enjoyable so far

Theres nothing positive about this. It could have been a great patch but its now tainted with stupidly broken missile damage and a new mech that seems to consist of a head-hitbox only.

a Positive: we can tell jokes about Catapult CPLT-C1s being powerful now - and mean it.

a positive:

people are starting to realize it is a team game and all components of the team need to work in harmony, or the shaded rain of lrm fighting starts back up

a positive: LRM fest has proven that no other ranged weapon is as good as LRMs.

The LRMfest reinforced something firmly in my mind...

Even with LRMs raining from the skys, with ECM being the best counter...

I still ******* hate ECM.

ECM still ranks as the single most stupid game design decision I have ever experienced.

Only the bravest A1 dares venture out of the trench to hunt down and destroy the lurmer.

Positive: after this splash damage bug is fixed, I will never get constantly headshotted in all matches. Kinda weird that when missiles hit into my mechs ***, it blows up it's head :D

Actually its making people realize that PGI is desperately understaffed in their Q&A or they hired monkeys. Plus it will get hot fixed and go right back to what it was before.

SSRM/SRM/LRM's more than likely have been this way there for some time if not since the last time they balanced them.

I think it wasn't until someone posted on public forums their little research project on LRM dmg that everyone decided to abuse it before the scheduled fix next patch. This triggered forum rage and another batch of people jumping on the LRM abuse bandwagon, prompting PGI to make this one of their primary concerns now, Instead of bringing new content.

I am not suggesting they keep it as it is. 2000 plus damage from an lrm boat is obviously way op. I just hope the devs don't nerf it into obsolescence. There needs to be a delicate balance between long, medium and short range builds.
