You sir are my saviour. Setting the index to 1 fixed it.

CONFIRMED!!

FIND index="2"
REPLACE index="1"
for all items in actionmap.xml file. You'll have to do it each time the game loads I think

I have been using a Logitech dual action gamepad for a few months now with no issues. I never had to do anything with the user.cfg. Im not doing anything to my user.cfg. I cant play the game now and no updates form PGI on the issue.

It has nothing to do with the user.cfg file, it's a bug in how it's assigning key mappings and I found a work around to the issue until PGI patches it.

I talked directly to one of the devs (random meet up in game, he sent me a friend request) and it sounds like they are aware of the bug and have a fix, when it gets patch no idea (hoping for a hotfix).

For the time being, open up the actionmaps.xml file in your Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\USER\Profiles\<Pilot Name>\ folder and replace all the entries that have index="2" with index="1"

**NOTE: You have to change this AFTER the game loads, i.e when you are sitting in the mech lab.

I am glad I found this. I was going mad, and had reinstalled the game to no avail. Still no change even with your "fix".

Was playing all day after patch, have joystick button 11 and 12 bound to Throttle Up and Throttle Down. Suddenly, the buttons stop working. Buttons can be bound in the options (Key already mapped to this control), and to other things, such as thermal/nightvision, and they work. As soon as any button on the joystick is bound to Throttle up/down, the button stops working. Using the keyboard still works, and can be rebound and still work. My playstyle is to steer and switch weapons, align torso and jumpjet with joystick, mouse to aim fire and zoom. This severely hampers my playing ability. Joystick works with throttle on friends computer. A second different brand joystick has the same problem on my computer. Different USB ports do not change this. Rebooting does not change this. Switching mice from wireless to wired does not change this.

*UPDATE*
Tried your workaround again - If I make a copy of the file, and delete the original and put the copy in it's place, it works.

give me a few but I think I can get mine working again, it seems to be the INDEX value that is the problem.

old config it's 0,1 or 2, new they are all index 2... that's my guess (once you change any settings it will get overwritten, hence it worked on first load until I turned Throttle decay off)

You sir, are a steely-eyed missile man.

Replacing all the "index=2" with "index=1" got me up and running again!

(It was odd, because only _some_ of my throttle buttons stopped working.)

I edited mine before entering the game... which worked. Looking at the file while still in game, the file was changed back to the erroneous "index=2" state. As a result, I expect you'll need to edit/replace it each time until the bug is fixed.

And we're back to not working. Sometimes I can replace the file before launch and it's fine. Maybe a 15% success rate. Keeps getting overwritten. If I paste it over when the game launches, it hardly works at all. I have been editing files and copy pasting for at least a half hour before launching the game each time.
I know you guys are busy, but when you hotfix LRM's, any chance at maybe looking into this issue?
