I'm getting into Atlai, and I'll be honest, it's pretty tough to figure out how to fit everything in. You either have a shortage of tonnage or a shortage of crit slots. Here is a build I put together: AS7-D

Edit: ER LLas was a mistake; assume that is a regular LLas

Experienced Atlas brawlers or experience 'Mech builders, I would appreciate your input here. I have unlocked all basic efficiencies and am ready to dump a couple million CBills into this chassis to get it up to par in Atlas terms. Once I deck it out, I'll be working my way to a DDC.

Hmm.. you're going to run out of ammo quickly. I would drop the engine down to a 320, replace the ER LL with a standard LL, upgrade the SRM 4 to a SRM 6 and add both SRM and AC/20 ammo. Consider upgrading to endo-steel as well.

My -D has 2 x UAC-5's, 2 x SRM-6, 2 x LL, with a STD 320 engine and endo-steel. Works for me.

Edit:... Nevermind, you already have ES on there. I need to look harder next time.

A standard 350 engine is *really* hard to pull off without shorting yourself on tonnage - as you noticed. Drop that a bit, to a 300-325 range engine, and then drop the Endosteel (I hope you haven't invested in that yet, as it will be wasted if/when you remove it). That will free up a lot more room to work! Add more heatsinks, but some MLasers for backup in the center torso, make the LLasers match (both the same distance type, so they can be used more effectively together), add more ammo and heatsinks, and move the second SRM up to a 6.

You should be in good shape at that point, but you can also play around with the following:

- PPCs instead of LLasers (anti ECM)
- Streak SRMs instead of the 6s (less firepower, but good if you find light mechs a problem)
- LRMs instead of SRMs (if you want to play around with longer range at all)
- Gauss Rifle instead of AC20 (again, longer range - also pairs well with PPCs or ERPPCs for accuracy)

Damn, I just bought the 350, too. And the ER LLas was a mistake; I meant to put on a regular LLas. Do you have a link to a Smurfy build for that? I like to see how other pilots have their builds set up.

1. 66 armor in the legs is huge. lowering that to 42 a leg will give you enough tonnage to up the srm4 to a 6 and an extra ton for more ammo for either the ac or the srms depending on your usage.

2. i would recommend against going lower then 325 for an engine. better to have a few less dhs if you can actually make it to the battle before its over.

Yeah, I decided on a 325 for the 3 HS slots vs. 2 on the 320. Going to be swapping the AC/20 for 2xUAC/5s for better overall range and will be dropping the leg armor further.

Here are a few of the loadouts I use, with the D-DCs being what I run most often (due to ECM being OP still):

Atlas D-DC Loadouts:

3xLRM15 + Gauss + MLaser + TAG (My standard missile boat; you can also do 2xLRM20 which allows the config to be used on an Atlas D frame as well)

2xLLaser + Gauss + 3xSSRM2 (My only 'close range' build, but still packs a punch at long and mid ranges as well)

2xERPPC + Gauss

Atlas D Loadout:

2xERPPC + Gauss + 2MLaser (My founders mech, and the weapon layout I played since I started during closed beta)

Atlas K Loadout:

2xERPPC + Gauss + 2MLaser + 2xAMS (nice against missiles, optionally drop a ton of ammo and half ton of armor to add BAP)

Atlas RS Loadouts:

4xLLaser (I dub it "Fastlas" - fast, but relatively weak damage output)

4xLLaser + Gauss (Runs a little hotter, but the Gauss gives it long-range kick and more firepower overall; my slowest design)
