Is MW:O going to have a fixed FOV?
I am running an eyefinity setup but it seems many games out there that are played online are locking down their FOV because many see it as an advantage over other players.

This ticks me off to say the least... Better lock down all cpu speeds to min spec too.. grrr...

Wont stop me from playing MW:O if it does get fixed though.. hell no.. but i would like to know if i am going to be taking my eyefinity setup apart and getting a new larger monitor to play, or if i will be able to play the game with a view that will not be zoomed in hiding half the cockpit etc.??

Any info would be a great help :) ty

FFP get used to it:) that and no respawn are what make me really want to play this game.

(edit)
actually this was supposed to be in an earlier thread

There should be a slider support for FOV. Where it CAN allow for slight "cheating", the penalties of having an improperly set FOV are, IMO, much greater than the rewards of weeding out a small handful of people who abuse FOV to see more on their screen.

Too many games, especially when ported from console, seem to be stuck are exceptionally low FOV's which make me feel like I'm moving too fast or like my face is up against the screen. My personal FOV sweetspot right now is around 80-85.

Yeah same here, I can get serious motion sickness if the game's FOV is too low, especially if it's lower than 85-90, though hearing Garth here is in the same boat really puts my mind at ease...

I'd not mind something like this to be honest.

If it's fixed it'll be nice if it's something reasonable like 85-90. If it's not then I'll of course optimize it for my resolution.

there is no excuse to not include fov settings... this is no console game where everyone has tunnel vision with 60 or less...

A fixed limit of 85 - 90 sounds good. We don't want to be stuck with tunnel vision, but we don't want some people setting it to 180 and gaining eyes on the back of their heads/mechs.

Er... you do know that field of view is not the same as forced first person perspective, right? Basically, FOV means the amount of things you see on your monitor at any given time. The higher the FOV, the more you see and vice-versa.

A slider with values between 70-95 seems a pretty reasonable solution. There are a lot different monitor set ups that people use after all.
In a 1980x1050 16:9 monitor, 70-75 is just too low, and makes playing the game disorienting and unpleasant.
I really don't understand why some games insist on a fixed FOV.

I'm hoping that PG does internal testing to ensure motion sickness does not occur easily, even if FOV adjustments/sliders make it in.

I remember Half Life 2 making me nauseous every 20 min, but playing UT2004 was smooth and pleasant, both stock/default settings.

Mech's bobbing up and down could be an issue in relation to FOV.

Efefinity is AMD's multimonitor technology. nVidia's multi-monitor technology is called nVidia Surround.

Ah, then i'll believe that is going to be a rather big no-no. Same reason as to why Diablo 2 and Starcraft remained resolution locked for so long, even with 1920x1080 screens.

I'm the same way. Though the idea of multi-monitor gaming is neat, I feel it's too early in its infancy for decent game support. For the time-being I'm sticking to a 24" monitor. :)

You can't test for motion sickness, its a pure subjective thing and varies widely between persons.

I was implying PG should have other options including FOV adjustments. But yes, motion sickness is definitely subjective, and FOV can contribute to it.

Hence, options are a good thing.
