Headshotting In Jaegermech; Splash Related Or Just Too Big?

Seems like either 'another one' got through development, or the splash changes in today's patch really worked a number on head hitboxes. Are people experiencing more headshot deaths to missiles in other mechs? Is the Jaeger suffering equally from all types of weapons? Is the moon made of cheese?

Post your results and testing here! Please be as descriptive and thorough as you can - and if you can, test your other mechs too to see if missiles are wreaking havoc on head hitboxes overall.

No extensive testing yet, but I'm finding the JM6 head hitbox a little too easy to hit with direct fire weapons.

I did see one game where an atlas almost got headshot purely from LRMs, so maybe we're seeing both? Could just be a fluke.

Edit: After a little testing, I've noticed that catapults die from LRM headshots pretty consistently. I guess the head hitbox lies right above the centroid of the whole mesh so all of the missiles bear down straight on it.

Also, something is definitely a little off with splash. After checking stats, my last game I fired 94 LRMs that hit and they did 250 dmg, almost 50% higher than it should be. This can easily be seen in the testing grounds as well as live.

if it were splash related it likely would have been an issue for the 'phract as well.

Head hitbox is way too big on the Jaeger. I am killed by this nearly every round. Can't speak for the Atlas.

Out of about 15-20 drops with my new jagermechs tonight I died to headshot at least 6 times... Couple times it was ppc, then i think gauss or ac20 rounds and once each to srm and....LRM?!

Sweet mech, but...yeesh...What did you do, take the scraps from raven's hitbox and paste them on to the JMD's face?

I had my face melted by streaks while the rest of my torso armor was yellow.

Definitely needs a slight tweak.

The Jaeger's cockpit is exactly where most people aim for a CT shot or center mass.... *facepalm*

It's really not just the Jaeger. Everyone is taking flak to the cockpit tonight. I've seen more atlases headshotted tonight (three) than I have since I started playing closed beta (one).

I'm pretty sure the Jager's head hitbox is larger than the combined size of the all the raven's hitboxes.

Could it be the multiple window panes registering excess (double, triple) damage?

I'm already going to sit this patch out for the next half a week... the jager is lackluster with broken hit-boxes, but the broken missile/splash mechanics just make this as bad as either the early days of closed beta (LRM spam wars) or the day after Artemis. Only 2 options to play really and that's either LRM's or ECM... no two if's or but's... once again pigeonholed by PGI's non-existent internal testing.

What I want to know is... do they really have alpha testers? Or is all this stuff just being handed to the QA department to sign off on before going live? At present the state of these patches are really some awful...

Hopped in a 4x LRM20 stalker with a single tag last night.... 6 kills 1 assist in the first round, 989 dmg. Could see head armor coming off in waves from most mechs where it is in a good top attack position (stalker, awesome, dragon, catapult), didn't see any Jaegers to hunt. Was too exhausted from work to test more.

It definitely seems the new splash mechanics are exacerbating any possible head hitbox problem the Jaeger might have come out of development with, but it does seem to affect all mechs as well.
