Introduction

Welcome to MekWars Forever!

The software MekWars, combined with MegaMek, allows players to battle in a persistent campaign that tracks army composition, pilot leveling, unit production and more. No two MekWars servers are completely alike, and MekWars Forever is no exception. The MekWars Forever campaign is a single player faction campaign, meaning every man is an island. What started out as a server where we were just going to let people fight over the Chaos March, has expanded by leaps and bounds! You strike out on your own to slowly conquer the inner sphere. Combat begins in 3058, and it will slowly advance over time. All in all, we are a fairly rules-light, stress free server, where the goal is to have fun, not to be lore-mongers or overly competitive jerks.

Some things that make MekWars Forever different from other servers:
  • Single player factions
  • Customizable build tables
  • Customizable planetary terrain (in progress)
  • Low stress/low rules complication environment

Operations

There are three major types of operations in MekWars Forever.

Hearts and Minds I-VI: Use these operations to slowly conquer unaligned planets near your starting capital.

Raids: The primary operation of the early server meta, raids let you strike anywhere in the inner sphere to engage in combat with your fellow players. No territory changes hands, but the winner can aquire units or components.

Conquers: Once your territory starts to abut another player's, Conquer lets you start taking their territory directly from them!

Economy and Tech

Each faction begins play with a collection of factories on their home planet, capable of building a wide range of (but not all) units. Each faction has identical build tables to begin, composed of a mixture of 3025 tech, recovered lostech, and new developments up through 3058. Over time, players can impact the units that are being built by their factories by spending resources to slowly increase the chance of producing units of their choice.

Specialty planets, those that are particularly noteworthy in lore as capitals or manufacturing worlds, will have factories that will allow players to produce newer technology units, mechs not yet available to the rest of the players because they are from slightly ahead of the current timeline. The rare market allows players to bid on mechs and vehicles, and possibly obtain units that are not currently available elsewhere, including the rare clan salvage.

The economy on the server is fairly loose. As an example, if you attack someone with a lance of heavy mechs, and have every single mech completely obliterated, you will receive enough money to purchase four new heavy mechs and have a tiny amount of profit left over. We hope this encourages people to worry more about smashing enemies, and less about balancing their budgets.

Hmmh, there are "faction forums" - am I right in assuming that there are larger multi-player factions, such as the Houses, and that players can choose to represent individual armies/regiments rather than factions all by themselves, too? :P

Our server used to have factions (each house, clan, etc), and you would thus have common goals with some other players, share factories, territory, etc. To some extent our forum reflects these old divisions.

We are experimenting with a new style of play this time around, a style which to my knowledge none of the other established servers mimic. It is now every man for him(or her)self.
