Hey guys, after the latest patch, I notice that I can assign joystick/throttle buttons to various commands in options menu, but in game those buttons are not working as assigned. Does anyone know why this may be? I am using a CH fighterstick, throttle and pedals setup.

Note: some buttons are working, just not all of them (but they can be assigned in menu).

Same on Thrustmaster THOTAS X. All assign in menu, but no activation in game.
Using my backedup actionmaps.xml put it back to my old state.

I did try deleting that and having it reload a clean copy, but no benefit.

I am having the same issue.

I Bought this really nice joystick so I can have a joystick for my left hand and mouse in my right.

Options SEE's ALL key presses on the joystick.

No matter what key I set throttle to, it WILL NOT work on my joystick.

I tried another joystick, same thing. EVERY OTHER COMMAND WORKS ON ALL THE KEYS BUT THROTTLE.

I set jump jets to a key, test it, I fly up. Set the same key to throttle, test it, NOTHING, I set it to fire, it fires, throttle, nothing.

I have turned throttle decay on and off, nope

I have tried using the new throttle step up and step down, nope.

This is extremely frustrating for me because I bought this joystick JUST for this game, now I cannot use it for throttle, which means it is useless to me as I am not setting throttle to my mouse..

well I would set it to mouse wheel.... IF I COULD....

*Edit - I tested Show Battlegrid and show scores on my gamepads and joysticks.

Same thing, they refuse to work

Found solution!!

Praehotec8 and Defcon Won This will work for you.

Go to the game directory. Go to USERS / PROFILES / YOUR USERNAME /

Here you will see 4 xml files.

Copy and paste the actionmap.xml if you want to back it up. Now open up the original one in NOTEPAD.

Go edit REPLACE (or Cntrl + H) and replace index="2" with index="1" - click replace all.

This fixed it for me, I hope it works for you too!

You have to right click on actionmap.xml after you make the changes and switch it to READ ONLY so that mechwarrior Online doesn't revert the changes. Sorry I forgot to say that in my post, Im add it now.

If you don't the game will work properly once or twice then revert back and the xml file will say everything is back to index="2"

Thank you Brennus for pointing this out.

Thank you slimebucket, I can also confirm that this solution works as advertised!

One more observation, however, you'll need to change the "Property Attributes" for actionmaps.xml to "Read-only", as MWO will revert the changes and reverse the solution.

Thanks from me too! Worked just right with marking r/o.
I was actually wrong, 3 of my buttons weren't working right even after restoring my old actionmap.... J0_button4, JO_button8 and JO_button9.
Other buttons on the stick itself and on the throttle DID program as normal.
All good now.

*If we could get a stick sensitivity adjustmnet, I might get enough speed in the stick to be able to use it. As it is, all I use is the throttle and mouse. The T HOTAS X doesn't have its own software to program it.
