Enjoy being a wasted slot on the team roster then. I'll Keep dropping the hammer with my LRM 15, SRM 6, 4 Med laser Hunchback doing 92 KPH. Able to harrass on my approach, break away and pound a mech in the rear, and break away again.

Well, its obvious that Wangs are not meant to harass and pound from the rear.

LOL

I leveled the YLW up in no time. This thing rocks. Its simplicity is its strong side. :)

When you play against weak players, you can do well in any mech. When you play against a good player. That arm is gonna be their target, Once you lose that arm, and you will lose it fast. You are dead weight.

I recently picked up my Yen-Lo-Wang again after letting it gather dust. Currently sitting at a 3.36 kill/death ratio and regularly in the top 3 on the scoreboard at the end of matches. It's an amazing mech once you find a build that really works for you.

That said I really miss the Centurion AH. Was easily my favorite Centurion before the Wang.

I know I never pilot Cents but what the deuce? They are removing mechs?! When did this happen, knowing me I'm way late to the party.

EDIT:
Oh nevermind; I see, I do remember piloting that in closed beta. Man my memory is bad. Nothing to see here, move along.

It doesn't have builds. Do you want a gauss or an AC20? Medium lasers or medium pulse lasers?

And if you don't play in the scrub tier ghetto, your arm is gone to the first mech who sees you.

Wang needs something to make up for not having melee, which it was designed for. A single hardpoint addition should do it.

What I really can't understand, is why everybody rages about the YLW, but nary a peep about the VERY similarly equipped Hunchback 4G? I like mine, and I've had some 400-500 damage games in it (not great by a lot of player's standards, but good for me). If you play it like a Hunchback 4G, you will be just as successful. Sometimes, when I get Alpine Peaks, I wish I had the option for a LRM 10. Yes the YLW costs real money, but the mech is far from the **** people here make it out to be. Is it an Ilya Muromets? No, but it's a decent mech, that can take a lot of punishment, like all Centurion chassis, and it gets you extra c-bills to boot.

4G has three laser hardpoints, and two of them are in the arms which leads to some interesting fitting options. Also RT isn't as easy to snipe off as an arm. It zombies well, but while zombie wang had its day the spider is far superior at this playstyle due to its high speed and small size.

But you're right that YLW is basically a 4G with less hardpoints.

Leave it alone!!!!!!

I have my AC20, which makes me happy- I have backup/longevity weapons, that makes me happy. I got 107kph, that too makes me happy... and I have 4 module slots, that makes me happy, but not as happy as I'm going to be when Airstrikes/Arty strike finally arrive.

Leave my YLW alone.. I got what I paid for, don't bait/switch me because someone else didn't pay attention.

You're all making me tired. Did anyone say that the Wang is being changed? I've had too many rumors for the day.

Give it another energy slot in a torso, or a single missile slot. Come later this year (if they're sticking to the timeline yet) it will have been upgraded to a Gauss rifle and triple medium pulse lasers. Sure, it won't have missiles for another 80 years or so, but I'd be willing to take even a single SRM 4 or 6 with it. I love my Wang, but compared to the A or D it's ultimately useless.

You mean like the vastly superior 9-A Centurion?

I figure in some far away future they might finally add melee attacks, and the YLW will get its hatchet and then it will be moderately less terrible.

I hate SRMs. The damage spreads around too much and you have to get suicidally close to focus your damage at all. At least with the AC20 you have the option of skirmishing at >270m relatively effectively, and you can be fully effective diving in and out of that 270m sweet spot. SRMs are just run up, hump mechs, and hold down the buttons praying he falls down before you do.

Autocannons are a more elegant weapon for a more civilized age. Not as random or as clumsy as an SRM.

I do fine with the YLW. It's really about protecting your arm, though to really use YLW effectively, you need a 1: Fast Computer 2: Fast internet. 3: Good aim. I run at 90 kph into combat, facing sideways, and only turn my torso to shoot the AC/20, then right back to twisted sideways again.

Edit: If they do stick to timeline, maybe it'll get the unique ability to sprint really fast with the experimental myomer once your heat exceeds 50%. When I first got YLW, I thought it was garbage too, then I went back 2 months later, and found that he's actually quite fun to play.

There's just something about this quote that makes me smile.

Anyways, I remember the AH, but back around that time, I rarely ventured outside of my Jenner, so never got much of a feel for it. That they removed a variant at all just seems counter-productive, whatever they were pretending the reason was. I do think it should return, and while I wont argue it as being better or worse than the Wang (I personally have never been troubled by Cents in combat, no offense) they shouldn't be ganking variants like that.

When all is said and done, though, I have this weird, sneaking suspicion we'll see it at some point n the future as a thinly veiled new hero mech that will be released...

Part of the reason it was feared in the lore was the sheer terror an AC/20 commanded. It would literally 1 shot a light and severly damage a medium. So the wang only needed to get the drop on you and you were toast. With the doubled armor values in this game that bite is gone. It's like packing an AC/10 and a couple SLas.

Not complaining about the doubled armor, it paces the game well. But it is the reason the Wang is a bit lackluster. And in the hands of a good pilot your right arm lasts long enough. It is much easier to protect than the 4G hunch is.
