The game is going to turn more and more into an "arms race". With every upgrade in equipment, and piloting efficiencies, and now consumables like coolant flush, DPS keeps going up. And soon we'll get artillery and airstrikes to add to the damage output.

At some point this is going to outstrip our Mechs' defensive capabilities. Damage will be King, and we won't possibly be able to armor the mechs adequately to survive the onslaught. We've seen this kind of thing before in other games, where players are dying too quickly, and that's not fun because you don't have much of a chance to do anything before dying. World of Warcraft had top-geared players two or three-shotting each other back in Vanilla, and they had to introduce new gear with a brand-new stat on it to mitigate damage from players in order to slow the pace down to something manageable.

I'd suggest at least *planning* to add some defensive items, piloting efficiencies, modules, etc., into the game at some point in the future. Of course such items come with a trade-off, but at least it gives players a choice to really beef up their mech, at the expense of damage output.

Nothing too outrageous, but little things like "crit chance reduction", or "increased internal structure hitpoints by 15%". Something comparable to the bonuses we're getting from the pilot tree (like improved heat containment and heat dissipation, which gives better DPS).
