Actually in PGI's case the light at the end of the tunnel is an oncoming train.

I hope they get money out the wazoo. I hope people shell out bucketloads of cash for thousands of colours and camo patterns. I hope virtual pilots are virtually buried with cockpit items. I hope people obsessively try to cram their garage slots with hero mechs.

You may believe that PGI are trying to fill a bank vault wih cash so they can swim in it and laugh maniacally, but I believe that every cent people spend on the game will make it better.

The ultimate reality is that no-one is being forced to spend the merest dime on this game. I've heard that EA is working on a mechanical hand that will pick your pocket and steal your credit card details while you play, but this design is at least... 12 months from completion. So really, there's no reason to panic.

Ok, the coolant flush thing... Maybe 5% reason to panic. 9% tops.

So why is PGI better than EA?

Please point to say, some previous body of work. games developed, marks of achievement. That sort of thing.

Why do you think one Dev/Publisher combo is better than another?

(Am I missing some subtle hint of sarcasm in the post? Only time will tell)

Fix and update the basics. Get the game running so the community can immerse itself.

Additional mechs, maps, etc. will always beg questions relating to balance, furthering the need to re-balance. Those issues will always need addressing, post beta or prior.

This is my overall point.

No it isn't. Seriously no.

MWO falls into the MOG category, i.e. Multiplayer Online Game.

MMOs have persistent worlds inhabited by a very large number of players concurrently.

This is 2013 I thought everyone knew what a bloody MMO was by now.

This is clearly the greatest issue facing the world today. And I support your quest to crap up the forums spreading your knowledge.

The whole idea behind the f2p model is that there is no completion date, they'll be improving the game until people stop playing.

Of course. Allow me to rephrase then?

When can we expect to see the OPEN BETA tag removed?

Way back when I was a young fella, younger than I am now anyway, I spent a lot of time on the America's Army forums. They had a standard answer to just about every "when" question ever asked...."It'll be done when it's done!". Since then I've been a part of a few game development forums and they all gave that same answer or some variation of it. This is the first Dev team I've come across that give out any sort of projected dates and look where it gets them...'they missed this date, they missed that date, it's proof the company is going broke, their not competent!'. No prizes for guessing why all those other dev teams just say it'll be done when it's done. But hey lets just demand more dates. We must come across as a bunch of self entitled prats.

When you state your timeline will reflect that of canon, one assumes such. When micro-transactions are one of the very first things introduced into an OPEN BETA, one assumes things are close.

Quote self-entitle all you want.

PGI chose the path they are on, we just want a clear outline. What's wrong with that?

Not about programming as much as updating us with an overall timeline that they can stand behind.

Because you apparently have no idea how Programming works.

What you are asking for could be compared to asking how long it will take to hit a target from 1000 yards in the dark, blindfolded, while riding a horse.

Can I code, heck no. Well nothing beyond some visual basic. But I know plenty of people who keyboard jockey for a living and they all have time lines they have to hit.

That's all my post is about really. It's obviously going to take them how ever long to do it. It would be nice to have a clear and updated time line for that OPEN BETA tag to get removed.

I have my own opinions as to the appropriate 'order' of importance but only because I have never experienced micro-transactions from the start of a beta up to and including monthly patches of said beta. In my eyes, it's even more important to be translucent with the inner-workings at that point.

Are there tree's in the way of said horse?

This is my whole point your asking them to make promises they probably wont be able to keep and I understand that, I'd like a time line too but I'd never ask. Even if they gave us a guesstimate, half the people who read it would take it as an iron clad guarantee and scream like banshee's when they missed the target.
