PGI can you please leave the Call of duty/fps controls to Call of duty/fps type games please? and if we're going to have CoD controls can you at least keep the normal controls default and make the casuals learn how to use "options" for a change?

Or better yet, if people want CoD controls, maybe, just maybe they should stay with CoD instead of having a game changed around them and annoying the established mechwarrior userbase?

I don't really care what options they add to the game, but making the new 'stupid-mode' controls default for us that have used the old ones for 9 months is indicative of a certain trend I think...

Well that's the thing, it's default so casuals can try out the training wheels or else they will miss it and never know about it so it's like they made it for nothing. If you already know how to play the game then more than likely you will know how to check the options menu once to uncheck it. Also I'm sure most non-casuals will go to options anyway to change graphic settings after installing that they will see it.

I don't see a problem with it honestly. You only have to do it once. Also don't overestimate the intelligence of "casuals" or "target audience". The devs these days dumb things down to brain dead levels. (I'm speaking other games)

Maybe you [REDACTED] can tell me how arm lock or a gas pedal has anything to do with Call of Duty? Take your irrational hate elsewhere.

....That they had to turn them on by Default for the ease of use for New Users?

I understand that being jettisoned can get bumpy wouldn't want y'all to hurt your noggins when it happens.

Imagine... having the "simple" controls set up so that anyone new has them on by default.... crazy talk. Obviously that's not what it's about... it's an attack on experienced players!

Actually Mechwarrior 3 had these types of controls (throttle decay and arm separation while pressing key or toggle were default). OP fail.

Yes!!!!!.... entry to the steering wheel underhive!! Been wondering when it would come...............

To the OP, STOP YOUR WHINING...... waaaaaaaaaaaaah............... I have to turn it off........waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.... I don't like it-get real. How can more options be something that makes you rage enough to post and make yourself look petty. Many of the posters on this forum have obviously been raised as an only child, used to crying and getting everything the way they want.

HINT: the world doesn't revolve around you. ;)

Oh, I didn't know the new patch for Mechwarrior required two triggers, gave a melee attack, a run mode, a jump, a dive, a crouch, the ability to switch weapons, the ability to deploy equipment on the fly, the ability to climb things, etc.

For a second there I thought Mechwarrior controlled like a 1970s arcade machine played in slow motion. I'm glad all that cod casualness didn't effect mechwarrior. It'd be tough if mechs actually required player skill to pilot. Too much cod.

This.

Freaking out over the change to default is pretty extreme. Flip the bloody switch if you don't like it.

Besides, its not like FPS or anything of the sort, it REMAINS an actual throttle, and it still takes quite some time to go from full forward to reverse, unlike FPS.

They even gave us access to the options menu in-game now, so you don't even have to wait until your game is finished to change things back to the "old" style throttle and arm movement.

ITT: A few "hardcore" fans worried about the spirit of the franchise and a number of "realistic" fans who want this game to succeed, make money and grow a large fanbase.

I'm on the side of the "hardcore" fans. Artistic integrity ftw!
