I noticed that having a few flamers gets you to 40% in 1 second and it only gets higher . Even with 21 double heat sinks it seems it hurts me more than them :(

So basicly you can't have good dps while using flamers .

0.4 damage weapon is less efficient than 9 damage weapon because it constantly drains your heat gauge

Kinda defeats the purpose of overheating other mechs since you can't shoot either

Solution: maybe we can change flamer completly and make it like a spit fire from mechwarrior 4 . Lets face it the only mechs you can heat with flamer is asasult mechs and you don't want to get in their face .

If your going to use flamers, you should only use 1. The only benefit you really get from a flamer it to blind slower enemies (Heavy or Assaults). And that will sometimes cause enemies to Focus on you..

They did get a buff, but is still not even close to being viable as a weapon.

I've already posted something similar in another thread but...

Flamers are great for lowering a heavy-hitting enemy's damage output. If you find yourself engaged with an Atlas or Stalker, frying them with a flamer will raise their heat level by a certain increment, forcing them to fire their weapons more slowly or end up shutting down. It's more of an "equipment" item than it is a true "weapon", and should be used as such. Only use two at the maximum, anything more is pretty pointless.

Flamers are fine the way they are. I don't want to have even more cheese builds come into the game with 9 flamers, just overheating and killing everyone in an instant.

The flamer is a brilliant example of Inner Sphere engineering that generates more heat in the robot firing it than the robot you hit with it.

FYI, it does hurt you more than them. A flamer generates a lot more heat on you than on the enemy, and last I was aware, the amount of heat it generates on you (the owner) ramps up the longer you fire it.

It is a nifty tool to use in combat for certain reasons, but it's not for everyone. I would even classify it as an advanced item, not something your average player will get any good use out of.
