actually, MGs have a max range of 200 meters, and they also have a high chance to crit, meaning they could do well over 1 damage.

Damage falls off from 0.04 to 0.00 between 90-200m, and AFAIK LRMs don't have internal components to crit.
Remember, to do that 0.4 DPS all ten projectiles need to hit.

LRMS already have enough counters, why 1 more? Let me have a medieval-like shield which reflects lasers!

This is already done. Each missile has 1 hitpoint with it's own hitbox. Trajectories are also tracked.
