I'm proud to say I went against the trend.

After a 3-day break on playing leading up to the patch, I had 5 -6 games in my Jagermech S (Yes, I got all 3, equipped them all), then decided that I wasn't going to repeat the Rain of Artemis Death experience.

I decided not to exploit the nastiness of LRMs for my pathetic stats, and stopped playing. Haven't played in 2 days.

Looking forward to this patch.

Then you aren't really observant, or don't understand fundamental game mechanics.

The fact that an LRM volley, even a partial one, can kill any mech through its head is an incredibly important bug.

I do understand a bit about game mechanics, and I agree that getting LRMed in the head may be a major fun killer (although I wouldn't call this result of a bug a bug). So it's probably the observation thing.

I can only speak for myself, obviously. I haven't been head-LRMed in the last two days, not once. Ok, maybe that one time where I stupidly ran onto an open field and into the fire arc of 5+ people - not sure, was dead too fast. In about 90% of my deaths, I have been killed by a large calliber AC, a Raven 3L, or by Lasers in close range. I died maybe two or three times to LRM fire, and that was always because I was stupid or was forced to move out of cover.

Been playing this setup for ages - it never goes out of fashion

Not even after this patch, when SRMs will do 1.5 damage each?
(with 0.4 splash damage dropping off to zero in a 1.3m radius)

Yes, it is the result of a bug.

See, they made a change where they accidentally opened up heads to full splash damage. The missile weapons have very large splash radii. This combines to mean that if LRM'***** your body, ANYWHERE, they will do damage to your head.

This is, obviously, not intended.

Being able to headshot a mech is something that is supposed to require some modicum of skill.. Not merely pulling the trigger on a volley of missiles.

Tell that to my Jager; I get hit with a half a volley and my head is now red. Compound the LRM bug with the head hitbox and you get a bad bad time. I really don't get the point of this topic now that im thinking about it.

Versus retrofitting my 2xLRM15+Artemis 2 LL 1 ERPPC Atlas back to 3 SRM6s, I'll note my stats of last 48 hours and compare to next 48 hours and see if I'm maintaining the same average XP/match.

Paul asked for assessment by "feel", and that's how I think I measure feel.
