I do see your point and they and I agre fully. I would love to see more intuitive hitboxes especially for the centre torso. Streaks have always been a problem and even pulling all the tricks in the book out, against 3Ls and 2Ds I only win half the time due to as you mentioned, Streaks. However, I accept that as a Jenner quirk and an inherent weakness to live with and make the challenge more exciting.

I have mastered every Jenner myself and usually die because of center torso kills. I will say that the center torso of the Jenner is quite protruding like the dragon is. Thus, like the dragon is should be a little easier to kill. When specifically looking at the light mech hit boxes that were previously shown, the Jenner looks to have triple the CT hit box area. I do think that if the side torso came out about 1/3 in a triangular form toward the head like the Raven but not as long, it would be much better. The back of the Jenner does not need any altering I think though.

I will also agree with another poster that the TBT itself is to big. I am willing to say that 8.5/10 kills are because of center torso destruction. I will rarely lose an arm during battle, and for that matter take off an arm of a TBT.

From behind, the Jenner Rear CT is only that small hexagonal rhombus in the center. From behind, the SRM rack and spoiler are all FRONT CENTER TORSO.

Are you serious? Considering enemies fire from a downward angle, no wonder I take so much CT dmg from behind!

Everything hits dead center torso, everything. I just died to streaks while running dead away from an X-5......he was straight behind me.

All front CT hits.

It also applies to direct fire weapons. there is no way to shade the front CT on a Jenner.

So every time I get my front CT stripped from behind I'm going to post in this thread.

So far three times today, all while running DEAD away, I died with barely scratch rear and NO ******* center torso.

Took a large laser to the back of my missile rack today! Died to front CT damage! Why even put more than 5 armor on rear center torso?

Driving these jenners, I only die from the CT being destroyed, usually while somebody is BEHIND ME 100%, with my rear armors still light yellow...I understand the jutting forward part being CT but seriously, the RCT being CT as well, I think that are needs to be re-examined.

I don't really mind the rear torso being so small. I can compensate by having only 2 points of armor there. It's enough to take one laser swipe at your back, and that's often all that's going to hit there in a round. But even 42 front CT armor, compared to 26 on the side fronts, results in a cored CT while still having yellow/orange side torso armor. I can recall only one game where I died from a side torso destruction.

Still, I'm not sure if doing anything about it would be a good thing. I like the current balance, it means you can't survive prolonged brawling but you can still do a lot of damage with hit and run tactics. Increasing side torso size would probably cause it to be too good at brawling, and would need further rebalancing. Perhaps if they moved some of the CT max armor to other parts it would remain in balance.

Maybe we need a screenshot of Jenners taking damage in odd places. I'll make a screenshot tomorrow.

I noticed this problem as well: everything hits the CT...so much so that if I need to take armor off for that extra JJ or heatsink, the side torso's are a good bet because they are almost never hit.

As you can see based on the hit boxes, it is very difficult to hit the spider, Commando, or Raven in the CT when firing from the side. The Jenner conversely has more CT surface area exposed at its side that arm, ST, and leg combined. Not only that, but I believe the Jenner is also the only light mech that has a size able portion of its CT visible from the rear.

My suggestions.
1. Make the rear section of the CT count as RCT like it is supposed to.
2. Extend the side torsos along some of the sides of the CT. Probably not to the extent of the Raven, but maybe more like the Catapult?

I think you are right, the should redo Jennar hit box, and make side torso larger.

I think this is a balancing issue, the Jenner is normally the fastest light with the most guns, it may be an offset that it is very vulnerable.

But with 3Ls currently dominating light mech combat it's ridiculous that the Jenner is so easy to kill.

Supposing they want to keep Jenner CT large, I still think it would be smart to remove the CT hit box from its rear. No mech should take CT damage from rear shots.

Yep I take way to much damage to the CT from the back or side shots.

99% of my deaths in Jenner are because CT is destroyed.

Therefore, yes, Jenner's hitbox needs overhaul.

Something happened last Tuesday.

I haven't used my Jenner-F in a while because I was grinding master on my D. In my D I'm used to constantly taking front CT damage when shot from behind and was kind of surprised to see that my Jenner F actually took rear center torso damage! I had to reallocate my armor values too keep myself from dying to back strikes so often.

Hope they fix the D hitbox soon. Would be nice to properly spread damage like the other light mechs.

Jenners have he advantage of more firepower, speed, jumpjets and twist. Use them to compensate for the vulnerable CT. If the hitbox was changed then the Jenner would be the next 3L (which we can now beat already since the latest patch). As it is, my worst K/D is about 1.4 for the D and up to 2 for the F. The Jenner is fine as is and does not need much help.

Technically if your CT hitbox is bigger than torso twist range only allows you to be hit more. Such as shooting while running away, yea, that means your literally saying, hit my front CT since I am looking at you. As you say, if the Jenner became the next 3L that is now beatable, that means the Jenner is technically way below the 3L since the 3L can be torn apart now. Basically saying that both of those arguments are invalid. Your other argument that Jenner's are faster is completely invalid as all Ravens and Commandos I believe can run as fast as a Jenner, and they can carry streaks, and we all know where they hit 60% of the time, which is fine. It is that they carry ECM so our streaks do not effect them.

I have literally lowered my RT and LT down to 15 points of armor and I still only die by CT kills.

Yes the design has a protruding CT, but so does the Raven, and they got and still have a hit box benefit.

The issue isn't whether or not the Jenner "needs help."

The Jenner's front center torso can be hit from behind - and frequently is by streaks. It's a platform that is practically hard-countered by anything with streaks.

Streaks hit CT on virtually any mech from any angle. Same with LRMs.
Not to say the Jenner hitbox isn't weird, but at least it's not a Cicada.
