An example from the LEAD DESIGNER on the matter of Mech Warrior Online being a First Person Simulation:
Yes that is an example of double-talk; for those who requested some of us go back to school.
Good, now you have proof from March 2012. Thanks
Things change, **** happens, How would you suggest PGI make the game more appealing for new players? You and I, can still play with others in first person. I just . . . . I'll be quite.

Closed Beta = Close minded people ... small sample pool ... nobody really cares about small closed minded vocal minority feedback ... or as it's more appropriately labeled: noise.
Closed Beta = Bug Testers ... period. Sorry if you guys thought you were SPECIAL.
How about founders. the people the game was marketed to. The ones who gave them the cash to do things. The ones they sold pipe dreams to. The Die Hards, that were willing to buy on faith in the IP.

We are solely a first person game. 3rd person may come into play a few years from now but no where in the near future.
did you read it? A few years from now is not a few months from now. Besides, there were other places that it was said. Third person was YEARS down the line. It broke a design pillar. This was a combat simulation, not a game. blah blah blah. It ll amounts to lip service now.
Quote
Again, they left the door open ... and remember, this is a moderator, not a developer.
They left the door open in both cases ... and again, you have no idea how this will be implemented .. how it will work ... what the trade offs will be.
Don't need to know at this point. they said no, now it's yes, without delivery of even the FIRST clan mech concept art. The invasion is supposed to be underway now.
"The timeline will follow day for day", "....two mechs a month ". Once bitten, twice shy. I no longer have trust in these people
Quote
You asked, I provided. They said no, then took away a Ceturion variant to make Yen Lo Wang. Something else that they said would not happen.
Community Warfare.... Bases with defense....
Quote
Also, everyone, myself included is IGNORANT about how it will be implemented, and ergo have no idea how it will effect the game. Sure, PGI might screw it up ... but hey, let's at least let them screw it up before we break out the tar and feathers :-).
I almost jumped for joy when Phelan Kell was reported missing....
To some of us they screwed up by even devoting the resources to investigate it.
And by the way, the person that I was quoting is not some mod, He's the Lead Designer. If you cannot trust what the lead designer is telling you, then who? the marketing team? HA! enjoy that kool-aid, bro. I have had enough. You have not yet, jolly good for you.
You asked for examples, I gave them. Fact is they said no(OK, I'll concede no time soon) to some things that their focus group was concerned would creep into the product. That is what gave people the impetus to plunk money down on an unproven, unfinished game by the Duke Nukem Forever guys. Now they are backtracking after not even delivering on the things that were supposed to be in by now. I for one do not believe that they will be able to keep the third viewers from mixing with the first person players. They have a hard enough time trying to keep 8 man teams out of the 4 man team or solo queue. If they DO manage it, the playerbase fragments even more than it is with the two queues that we have. With 4 queues and ELO, I expect that people will see more "Failed to find a match" buttons.
Either way, I've said my piece. There is nothing that you can say to me that will bring back the trust that is lost, so....
I'm going to activate my premium time now and run it out.
Enjoy

I guess it just doesn't make me that upset.
I was mad, but over other issues. (ECM, Matchmaking, slow development)
Now that they are finally talking about CW release, and I'm currently enjoying the ELO, my blood pressure has come down a bit. The games not perfect, and it still has a long way to go, especially for a small staff of Devs, but I still enjoy playing 8 to 12 hours per week.

I don't see where PGI has double talked. Every since the idea first came up, the idea is still the same. I remember the podcast with Russ (Oct 2012), and what he said back then is what has taken shape now. So your rant is lost on me.
Mate you have to go back alot futher then OCT 2012 to see were Pgi frist started talk in tounge's
I'm sure what they first said about 3rd person view is as follow's
"there will be no 3pv as this game is only 1pv and we will not be braking one of the corner stone's of this game" this was said in the very begining and 12 to 15 mths ago. So belive me when we say they are only about the double talk...
