Are We About To Witness The Rise Of D-Bagwarrior Online?

The other major thing I saw in the update, something I think will massively hurt MWO as a game and as a community was this line:
For now, these stats are only viewable by individual players. In future updates players will be able to see other player's stats and leaderboards.
Please god no. People already game the system bad enough for their KDR, and people can't even see it yet!
I frankly find the e-peen waving in this game bad enough, but my god, this potential change could make it downright unbearable.
Anyone else really not looking forward to public stats and leaderboards?

It has no impact on how well one functions as a team player.
It has no impact how well you scout
It has no impact on how well you assist your team with targeting information
It has no impact on how good you are at capping
It has no impact to how well....
Seriously - need I go on?

And this is the attitude that makes me despise stats... Stats mean NOTHING without context. I notice a clan image in your sig ( once my eyes stopped bleeding that is ). Generally this means you play in a group I assume? With 4-men over comms against PUGs or 8-men against other 8-men groups?
'cause each one of those is a vastly different game with a vastly different impact on a player's stats. If you play 100% 8-man group and you have KDR ration of 4 to 1, that's damned impressive. If you play 8 man drops against PUGs, that KDR is... sad really.
That's the thing though, people will take the path of least resistance towards building that KDR (or whatever other stat ) value up, to the ultimate loss of the game in general. Remember the masses of people disconnecting to preserve their KDR... a KDR we couldn't even see yet? That's about to get 100x worse.

Lol, "underperform". I didn't realize we got paid for this. Some people play games to, you know, play games. If you really need a peen contest then go ahead though.

No. I'd rather hide my stats and continue to have fun being a mediocre player. I don't care about other people's stats and I really am not interested in other people's opinions of mine. MWO isn't my job, I have no plans to 'work hard' at it. If you want to compare stats, I support you having the ability to do so. Just give me a checkbox to turn it off.

Sounds to me like you have small "stats"

See, I dont care either PERSONALLY. Which is why I will PUG, play builds I find fun instead of simply min/max builds, etc...
I do care massively about how it impacts the game though... People exploiting the game to preserve stats, people even more pushed towards running only cheese builds and all the other negative **** that comes with people trying to grow their e-peens.
I see nothing positive that can come of this change, but all kinds of negatives... if only just by making these forums unbearable.

And a proper clanner would always fight 1vs1 and not focus fire. Kinda like PUG's do instead of using IS tactics of command network, focus fire, ambushing etc.

If I recall correctly, and I do, coolant was always a pretty standard feature in other Mechwarrior games, not a specific module you had to buy and equip manually.
EDIT: I could also care less about the stats. Figured this was as good a place as any to post, since it's bound to be the flavor of the month topic everywhere in a few days/weeks.

Depends on the stats available, right now win/loss and K/D has no real bearing upon a players contribution to a match. Stats in general may not mean anything much anyway. A few of us have sub par stats because of trying different mech styles and experiment, but have mech designs we fall back to when we simply want to shred things up. Of course, we also know who we are going to group up with, so public stats are interesting, but we could care less who views them.
But those who are true lone wolves and need to find groups may be hindered by the false idea that stats really mean anything.

That would be the interesting upside of them making stats public... if they are detailed, detailed enough that we can see who at the top of the leaderboards are driving 3l's/splatcats/D-DCs 100% of the time.
I think this info would be too damning though, so I doubt it would be shared.
