Short and Sweet people. There are things in the world people take for granted. One of them is being able to properly see colors.
Here is an example of one type of colorblindness.
Posted Image

Who here can tell that the yellows/reds look very similar to the golds and reds used in the GUI of the Cockpit.

Now my question is. Will there be a colorblind option at launch?
Probably not..... If there is and I've missed the announcement. WOW good job PGI.

There are two common ways of fixing this. One if to have a separate colorblind mode that changes all the reds to blues/oranges the other if a personal option of coloring the entire GUI yourself.
I'm a big fan of matte blue and neon green.

And before someone asks. No, I am NOT Colorblind. However I do have a weird sensitivity to a specific neon shade of red that gives me splitting headaches if I stare at it for too long.... Ironically... PGI nailed that very specific 1 in 366 shade of red.

Thoughts? Concerns? or Ideas anyone is willing to throw around to make this game more personally accessible to those with ocular dysfunction?

A customizable HUD would be simple. I think. Probably.

I dunno what to call my particular flavor of colorblindness, but that doesn't mean it isn't there. Some UI palette options would go a long way towards smoothing that out. Please?

Yes. This should happen. Photoshop allows you to preview items for various color blindness, and I think this should be added. It will take extra work on PGI's behalf, but for the benefit of being that much more inclusive.

have you guys tried a nice sheet of hued cellophane over your screen to adjust the colors to ones you can differentiate? or at least not get a migraine from like the OP. that or in your video options you should also be able to re hue things to work for your conditions. while not ideal, these things tend to be highly adjustable on the pc these days, in the old days of CRT you could fiddle with the buttons (because **** is censored) and massively alter red balances and such to make them far more blue.

Man, I would just play in black and white if possible. I don't think I could take gaming with so much yellow, but I guess that would be the norm for you.

Id like to see a Color-blind mode implemented as well as my GF, cant see above yellow on the freq spectrum (meaning reds thru yellow; greens and above are grey) from a welding accident.

Luckily, most games show enemies RED so she's ok, but I think about this for her, and yes she'll be playing with me, she owes me for being forced to play Tera

ouch, gotta use the welding mask its a must, glad she didnt fully flash blind off it though. remember kids, dont stare into welding/the sun/mech reactor criticals, it will burn your retinas!

and we can confirm, enemy targets in mwo get a red aura/reticle over them. for those who are red blind i still think a nice cellophane filter could help.

Seems that every evolution of MW someone, from the MW community, manages to change the HUD. I would hope if the devs didn't want to spend time making one that they might be coerced into releaseing some code for others to work on such a worthy cause....

The PGI devs are at least cognitive of the issue and spent some time with us in poll and discussion a short while ago discussion potential solutions. FWIW...

If the search function would allow four letter words... I'd dig up the original poll & discussion... sadly you'll have to trust me on this.

You'd think that the mechwarriors would want to be able to customize their HUD to the colour of their choice, no? :)

I do recall reading in an older dev post that they had acknowledged color blindness and were doing something in-game about it.

I remember how AC fans got mad because the creators didn't implement subtitles. So I think that it's important for any company to take dissabilities into account. Such as deaf/colourblind.

A friend of mine is completely color blind pretty much everything to him is a shade of gray. Fortunately he's very acute to the different hues but in the heat of battle he misses a lot. In which case friendly tags look like enemy tags and he shoots us... a lot.

Please help stop Friendly Fire!

Design with colorblindness is mind is nice. "Are you colorblind?" should really be a question on all beta surveys so the devs can toss in a handful of colorblind people.

Change your contrast or colour saturation a little bit. Bam. Different shade of red. /rocket science

While not color-blind I find that this post is fantastic. League of Legends has a color blind mode, and I actually play using it because it is easier for me to see and understand.

Hopefully this can get into the dev list of things to do!
