I love the other end of that, when you have a large house community that has a large number of 4 and 8 man groups dropping at random, when eventually they happen to enter the same match at the same time, you get accused of syncing and the subsequent "REPORTED" if we're on the same side, or "SYNC FAIL, REPORTED" if we're on opposing sides.

Wait... is Marik the only one with that problem? :P

Nope, that happens to us all the time. There's also more than one Liao voice option and if we end up dropping with the other groups we get accused of it as well.

Is it unfair? Yeah, horribly.

Does it always succeed? No, but some people have made it into an art form.

Does it bother me? Not really, unless they're ******* about it.

Should it ever? No, this is a game, played for fun.

Is it against the rules? Maybe. Depending on intent--if they're there to farm, definitely. If they're there just because they have an extra guy and they want to include him in matchmaking and... then maybe not. Either way, it's not currently stoppable.

What should we do about it? Well, if it's a big enough issue that we all feel bothered by it we can ask the Devs to include some more anti-cheesy-sync-dropper measures in the match making, but ultimately we can't stop them. While it can get better, it's never going to be perfect.

At that point we can either play on and learn to have fun despite the unsporting cheaters, or we can move on to the next game which will also be filled with unsporting cheaters.

The biggest factor is that PGI cant or wont do anything about it. When that happens the old "if you cant beat 'em then join 'em" reigns. If you want to be on the leader board then you have to be better or out wit the guys on the top.

So, join a sync dropping clan and bend/break the rules and collect your phat lewt from PGI.

Atm my score it's just from PUG play only, but this is just an example. You can do it even without syncrodpping, but it's harder and i think that who's abusing syncdropping or exploiting bugs or stuff to reach the top should be warned, at least.

to win this contest,

1 get friends whit lrms,
2 get a tag,
3 shoot people whit a medium laser and tag them,
4 let you`re friend shoot other mech up get assist + tag bonus,
5 see you get top score,

this system is so easy to abuse

it's a "tactic" called boosting, those who have ego's get together with their friends to "Boost" their stats, often times it's by making 2 accounts, sync dropping so that you fight the "Dummy" account for free kills.

it's an old issue, it's a crappy way to go about things, but some people call it valid.

On the bright side, I don't think many people on the leaderboard are actually sync-dropping. agentbc won the Top Gun challenge and I was in more than a few drops with him and he was always flying solo when I saw him. Just killing lots of dudes.

They could just check the top 15 of each category and see if a person have dropped solo, but the person have like 10+ matches with a few specific people. That would be a huge red flag.

Problem is that with ELO you tend to end up with the same people irregardless of trying to sync with them. Afterall, you're likely queuing at the same time as soon as the match ends.

Voted Unsportsmanlike, since it isn't against the rules but is clearly a violation of the spirit of any single-player competition.

Given some of the scores on the current leader boards, it looks like several people either had the best run of games ever (whole teams of LRM carriers while they had a TAG) or were sync dropping.
