i just don't like my matchs, since i can only brawl, the elo thing doesn't have much to work with, since lots of rounds are long range fights, i rarely get much done, except maybe kill one dude that gets 2 close, and i keep getting stuck in tourmaline desert :/ 6th time in a row....

still, if you just got your mech and are testing it, the longer you test it with bad weapons and such, the longer that mech gets put in bad matchs

... and once you find your stride, the players you face get better as you do. Sounds perfect on paper IMHO.

what if your bad teammates are causing you to perform poorly,?? battlefield 3 had a skill rating like this, it changed so often and meant so little, no one cared anymore, you could go from 600 skill to 210, then back to 600 in a few rounds

and when i was done testing weapons with my ctf, my matches sucked, even tho i had already hit my stride before testing, i had to let the games elo rating for me catch up, still is catching up

also hurts the consistency of testing, since opponents might get worse, maybe they could let you disable certain matches from affecting your elo rating or something

I am not exactly sure what the OP was getting at, but I also think there is something weird about the Elo system.
I thought the Elo system would make it so that everybody wins around 50% of his games. But for some reason I win about twice as much games as I lose. How is this possible?
I am a decent player, but surely not one of the best. Also I was almost only playing solo since the Elo system, no group play.

If Elo worked like it should, I would not have these stats.

To address a few points I've seen:

* Elo is per weight class, not per chassis. This comes from a dev. I don't remember where, but, I remember seeing a dev say it and I was like "Oh, okay." and have remembered it since.

* The development team has made it clear that this version of Elo is very basic, and they have plans to make it much more rigorous. Notice how the last couple months they've been running constant tournaments, and bug-testing their stat-tracking?

Right now we're running on basic mode. I'm not sure what the scoring metric is (that sort of thing is usually kept secret so that nobody can cheese it), but it's going to be something SUPER simple, like pure damage output versus death time.

It'll be something super easy to programming tracking mechanisms for, but something not really indicative of performance.

And as they improve their stat-tracking (like how much spotting you're doing, how many times you take command and the team wins afterward, that sort of thing), they'll start integrating those things into the Elo calculations.

You probably won't see the system improve in one big drop. It won't be "Elo now made 100% better". It'll be behind-the-scenes tweaks, like, figuring out a good ratio of "how long you're alive" to "how often yoru team wins".

But it'll get there. No devs are saying "This system is done!" they're just saying "It's in place, and now we can improve it piece by piece."

Having said all that, yeah, I experience the same problem: my kills vs deaths is hilariously high sometimes, and my matches won is fantastic. I'm clearly not being placed with people in a similar skill bracket, regardless of what my Elo says.

maybe i should stop testing with my main mech....

maybe i shouldn't be using my main mech for testing....

couldn't, using this system, you could do bad on purpose, then start beating up new players because it would count you as unskilled when your not??

sorry, idk what it was doing for those first 2 lines...

As for Elo, we don't really know how "fast" we move up/down the Elo ladder. Suffice to say, if you can maintain a 2.0 average for an extended time you're either climbing to the top or is already at the top of the Elo curve and will be matched against mostly worse opposition.

So, judging from your stats FromHell2k, you're probably one of the higher ranked players around or on your way up (especially if you're pugging).

Will be interesting to see if your win rate starts dropping any time soon. I found mine to drop a bit after about 100 games (and drop even further when levelling the jagers :-D ).

I'll be sure to put up as much opposition as possible if I run into you on the battlefield ;-)
