Hey

Anyone else feel they have been robbed of something when seeing this?

I always thought I got some of the best animation series as a kid, then I find out there is a TV animation serie of the BattleTech universe. How awesome is that? :D

Well even though i'm 27 years and married I'm going to be watching this serie thats for sure, screw soccer, this is the real deal. Hopefully one can download it and save it for future generation :)

Did you have this this serie when you were a kid?

I watched this show when I was getting into the TT, it's fun to spot the mistakes they make in the series.

Something of a spoiler, the animated series exists in the BT universe as a "poorly reviewed holovid series".

Ah thanks.. Oh well, got to enjoy it for what it is then with that in mind. A series for children :D At least its good if one wants to brainwash children for them to become fanboys  Btw I have never played the TT series, is it complicated? Reason I ask is that I want to buy it for my little brother to get him into the series.

I'm still going to watch it though

It's really easy when compared to most other wargaming TT games like, say, Warhammer. The rules are simple, you don't need thousands of dice, rulers and who knows what. AFAIK you can easily get set up for everything you need by the introductory box:

You can try MegaMek for online version, or you can try out MW:Tactics for really limitted, but graphically more advanced.

What blows my mind is that when I looked up Adam Steiner on Sarna.net to see any of his 'other accomplishments', I had my jaw drop when it reached Dark Ages territory. I had no idea. Suddenly his character isn't so bad to me. XD

I never got to see the Battletech series on TV. But I have seen them on YouTube. I grew up on the Robotech series and G.I.Joe.

This show is what introduced me to BattleTech/MechWarrior.

Then MechWarrior 2 really got me into it.

I really don't know if you are able to realize it, but this has nothing to do with this thread or with the statement in your quoted post.

I remember at the time it came out, the fans of the game widely panned it. Now looking back on it, it doesn't seem so bad. I wish a station in Baltimore had shown it. The closest station that did was WDCA out of DC.

When I immigrated to the US from South Africa in 1995 at 14 it was the first animated series I saw when I turned the TV on. Back then it was probably the greatest thing in the entire universe (grew up on robotech and transformers in SA).I had never been so obsessed and that excited over a show before.

It's all I drew in 8th grade and could think of, when they cancelled it I resorted to watching the VHS. Then that went away and I was left with Exosquad then DBZ. Never knew battletech was a TT franchise or MW2 existed as I had no computer. I found and begged for that Mechwarrior game on saga genesis that was basicly Urban Strike with a Mad Cat. (Excellent game!)

When I went to the army at 17 I ran into 2 guys who played the TT and MW2 and my world exploded again. During all the rough parts of basic like the boring 15 mile hike/march at 3am I kept imagining mech battles in the Georgian tree line and fields.

Then college and my roomate came back one weekend with MW4. I've been playing battletech games since then and obsessed with the universe. Probably have almost every novel... That damn show started it all.

TT is a fun experience but not for a kid too young to be patient with getting it set up. The good part is you do not have to RP, just bash mechs if you want. The trouble is when rule interpretation gets in the way and keeping good track of record sheets. I played TT for ages but that was before PC games were good enough. Mega Mek is an awesome replication of TT without the mess. The drawback being loss of the excitement of every dice roll, NEEDING that 7 to core the CT and always getting some other location... Aiming is TOUGH (near impossible) in BT, old saying goes, "Good player, bad dice roller".

I miss TT but I think it will be tough for today's generation to be patient enough for it - especially when MWO provides faster & similar gratification. Prepare to spend a LOT of time to play/complete a game even 1 v 1 light mechs, prob 2 -3 hours your first few games. Find some adults who have played in your area to get the gist faster (and before putting out your hard earned cash), most places should have a place to play/meet other players.
